Monday 15 June 2026
Data: Close 11 June (latest scanner) | UKX: ~10,462 (12 Jun close, +1.5%) | Futures: Sep-26 ~10,226 (rolled 14 Jun; below spot on dividend discount, NOT a gap down)

MARKET OVERVIEW
Cash index closed Friday 12 June at ~10,462, up 1.53% (+158 pts) - a third straight up session led by IAG, Vistry and Anglo American. The front future rolled to the September contract on 14 June; the ~10,226 quote reflects the normal UK dividend discount on the far-dated contract, not a directional gap. Bias into Monday is FIRM / MODESTLY POSITIVE.

Key drivers: Brent at an eight-week low (~$88; WTI ~$80.69, -4.9%) on US-Iran de-escalation hopes - risk-positive for the broad index but a headwind for energy earnings. Gold at a 2026 low pressures miners. UK shop-price inflation +1.2% y/y (May) keeps the BoE cautious.

Note: all stock levels, RSI, MACD, EMAs and pivots below are from the 11 June close - the latest scanner snapshot. Comparison is 11 Jun vs 10 Jun.

Thursday 11 June 2026
Data: Close 10 June | UKX: ~10,255 (+0.3%) | Futures: ~10,226 (flat/-0.3%)

MARKET OVERVIEW

The FTSE 100 closed Wednesday up 0.3% at 10,255 after a volatile session — early gains, a mid-morning drop, then a recovery into the close. FTSE futures are trading around 10,226 this morning (opened 10,189, range 10,159-10,233 — source: Investing.com UK 100 futures), with cash opening near 10,227. Read: flat to marginally soft open.

The character of the tape is a clear defensive rotation: money is leaving miners and banks and flowing into consumer staples, tobacco and selected oil. Macro backdrop: the 2026 Middle East energy shock keeps UK inflation forecast at 3.5-4% into H2, Q1 GDP printed +0.6%, and May retail sales smashed forecasts (+3.4% LFL vs +0.8% expected) — directly supportive of the grocer/staples bid.

Data note: LLOY is printing a x100 scale glitch in the feed (9722 vs ~97p) — its weekly stats are invalid today. GLEN's daily low (483.9) looks like a bad tick, so treat GLEN pivot levels with caution.

NOTABLE CHANGES — WHAT MOVED SINCE YESTERDAY

ULVR — Crossed ABOVE EMA50 and POC. Week +7.99%, RSI +24.3 pts on the week to 60.5. The strongest recovery story on the board.
TSCO — Crossed ABOVE EMA50 and POC, +2.92% to 469.2, now above all three EMAs. RSI 57.7 (+6.9 on the day).
BATS — Crossed ABOVE EMA20 and EMA50. Week +5.96%, RSI +15.4 pts on the week.
VOD — Crossed ABOVE EMA20 and EMA50 plus a MACD BULLISH crossover, all in one session. Now above all EMAs.
SHEL — Crossed ABOVE EMA20 and EMA50, +1.78%. Still below POC (3319).
LSEG — Crossed BELOW EMA50 and EMA200, MACD BEARISH crossover, crossed below POC. The cleanest fresh breakdown on the board.
GLEN — Crossed BELOW EMA50. Week -7.18%, RSI -18.7 pts on the week.
AAL — Crossed BELOW EMA50. Week -8.86%, RSI -16.6 pts on the week. Mining breakdown is sector-wide.

SECTOR HEATMAP

STRONG — Consumer Staples: TSCO +2.92, ULVR +2.73, ABF +2.57, RKT +2.38 — four staples crossed above key EMAs in the same session. This is a coordinated rotation, not a one-off. DGE remains the laggard (below all EMAs, -29.6% off 52w high).

STRONG — Tobacco: BATS +2.03 (crossed above 20/50), IMB +2.37 (crossed above EMA20). Defensive bid confirmed.

RECOVERING — Oil & Gas: SHEL above all EMAs again, BP +2.12 but still below EMA20/50. Oil price risk both ways on Iran-Israel de-escalation headlines.

MIXED — Insurance/Financials: ADM (MACD bull cross, 5-day streak) and LGEN (MACD bull cross, above all EMAs) strong; PRU deeply oversold at RSI 24.2; LSEG fresh breakdown; III 51% off its high.

MIXED — Pharma: AZN crossed BELOW EMA200 (now below all EMAs) — a heavyweight warning. GSK and HLN recovering above their EMA20s.

WEAK — Mining: AAL and GLEN crossed below EMA50, ANTO -9.28% on the week, RIO below 20/50. All four below EMA20. Sector-wide distribution.

WEAK — Banks: All five below EMA20. STAN -8.15% week (RSI 38.1), HSBA -5.15% week, NWG crossed below EMA20/50 today, BARC on a 4-day down streak.

Entry: 466-467 (POC 466.4 retest) · Stop: 454 (below EMA20 454.5, 1.2x ATR) · T1: 484.7 (classic R3) · T2: 508 (52w high) · R:R: 1:1.4 / 1:3.2

2. ULVR — Long, recovery continuation (CONTINUING)
Strongest weekly tape on the board (+7.99%, RSI +24.3 pts). Crossed above EMA50 and POC. Below EMA200 (4726) so this is a recovery trade, not a fresh bull trend. Confluence 4/5.
Entry: 4365-4375 (pivot 4368 / EMA50 4337 zone) · Stop: 4265 (below classic S2) · T1: 4534 (classic R3) · T2: 4726 (EMA200) · R:R: 1:1.6 / 1:3.4

3. VOD — Long, triple signal day (NEW today)
Crossed above EMA20, EMA50 and printed a MACD bullish crossover in the same session. Above all EMAs. POC at 113.26 is the only barrier overhead — that is the trigger.

4. ADM — Long on pullback (CONTINUING)
MACD bullish crossover above zero, 5-day up streak, above all EMAs, RSI 59.9. Caution: rv 0.42 — thin volume, so buy the dip rather than chase. Confluence 4/5.
Entry: 3400-3410 (classic pivot 3406) · Stop: 3350 (below prior low 3352) · T1: 3460 (R1) · T2: 3546 (R3) · R:R: 1:1 / 1:2.6

RSI 24.2, stochRSI 8.9, heavy volume on the bounce (rv 1.48), +1.11% green close near the 52w low (873). All exhaustion boxes ticking, but this is against the trend — half size, no exceptions.

BEARISH WARNINGS

LSEG — JUST broke EMA50, EMA200 and POC with a MACD bear cross, all today. Highest-priority avoid/short.
AZN — JUST crossed below EMA200; now below all EMAs. A heavyweight index drag if it follows through. POC far above at 14,110.
NWG — JUST crossed below EMA20 and EMA50. Banks sector-wide weakness.
RR. — JUST crossed below EMA20 with a MACD bear cross; momentum fading (RSI -5.8 today).
AAL / GLEN / ANTO — Miners: -8.9% / -7.2% / -9.3% on the week, AAL and GLEN broke EMA50 today. Sector distribution, no bottoming signals yet.
STAN / HSBA — -8.2% / -5.2% on the week, both below EMA20/50, RSI 38-39. Asia-exposed banks under pressure.
EXPN — Crossed below EMA20, -2.41%, 37.7% off the 52w high, no support nearby.
Note: PRU is NOT a short despite being below all EMAs — RSI 24 with heavy-volume green close is short-covering territory, not entry territory.

Wednesday 10 June 2026
Data: Close 9 June | UKX: 10,227.33 (-1.4%, lowest since 15 May) | Futures: Data unavailable (no verified pre-market print)

MARKET OVERVIEW

The FTSE 100 fell 1.4% on Tuesday to 10,227.33, its lowest close since mid-May. The selloff was driven by Asia-facing financials after reports that China is tightening rules on mainland residents opening offshore investment accounts via Hong Kong banks: Standard Chartered -6.3%, HSBC -4.4%, Prudential -4.7%. Energy also dragged, with Brent crude down 3.3% to $91.11 as oil eased back from its war-premium highs. Sterling firmed to $1.3385. Macro backdrop remains the Middle East energy shock with UK inflation forecast to peak around 3.5-4% in H2. Money is rotating hard into defensives: Bunzl, REL, ABF and Unilever all advanced against the tape.

Conviction caveat: volume was thin almost everywhere (rv below 0.8 on most names) except BNZL (rv 1.4) and INF (rv 1.4) - treat breakdown extensions with some caution today.

NOTABLE CHANGES (vs Monday 8 June)

STAN - RSI dropped 12 pts to 40.8, crossed BELOW EMA50, -6.0% on the day, -9.7% on the week
HSBA - RSI dropped 11 pts to 42.1, crossed BELOW EMA20 and EMA50, -4.2% day, -5.8% week
GLEN - RSI dropped 9.4 pts, crossed BELOW EMA20, MACD bearish crossover, -4.0% day, -6.9% week
PRU - -4.7% day, -13.2% week, RSI 22.3 now deeply oversold, approaching 52w low
RIO - Crossed BELOW EMA50, 5-day down streak, -7.7% week
LLOY - Crossed BELOW EMA20 and EMA50, MACD bearish crossover
WPP - +5.5% day, RSI surged 11 pts, crossed ABOVE EMA20 and EMA50
ULVR - RSI surged 8.2 pts, crossed ABOVE EMA20, fresh MACD bullish crossover
BNZL - 5-day up streak, +7.3% week, RSI +16.4 pts on the week, heavy volume (rv 1.4)

SECTOR HEATMAP

BANKS - WEAK (broad same-day breakdown)
HSBA, STAN, LLOY and BARC all crossed below key EMAs on the SAME day - a coordinated sector break on the China offshore-account story. NWG is the only bank still above all three EMAs (RSI 52.6). Avoid longs in the sector until this stabilises.

MINERS - WEAK
RIO, ANTO, GLEN all crossed below EMA50 within two sessions; AAL -8.3% on the week. Weekly RSI deltas of -16 to -19 pts across the group. China capital-control jitters hitting the whole complex.

ENERGY - WEAK
BP and SHEL both crossed below EMA20 and EMA50 as Brent slid 3.3%. Both still above EMA200.

ASIA INSURERS / FINANCIALS - MIXED TO WEAK
PRU oversold at RSI 22.3 (no exhaustion signal yet), AV below all EMAs, LGEN still above all EMAs but printed a fresh MACD bearish crossover.

DEFENSIVES / CONSUMER - STRONG (clear rotation)
BNZL (above all EMAs, 5-day streak, heavy volume), ABF +1.5%, TSCO +0.9%, ULVR +2.6% with a fresh MACD bull cross. IMB and BATS flat. This is where the money went on a -1.4% index day.

MEDIA / PROFESSIONAL SERVICES - IMPROVING
WPP +5.5% recovery day, REL +7.0% on the week, RTO crossed above EMA200 on a 4-day up streak. INF the laggard (crossed below EMA50 on heavy volume).

PHARMA - NEUTRAL
AZN crossed below EMA20 (RSI 46.3 but weekly RSI still rising), GSK mixed above EMA20, below EMA50.

AEROSPACE / DEFENCE - MIXED
RR. above all EMAs (RSI 54.7), BAE below all EMAs despite a bullish MACD.

TOP SWING SETUPS

1. ULVR - Long, MACD bull cross reversal (NEW signal today)
Fresh MACD bullish crossover, closed back above EMA20 (4216) and EMA9 (4194), RSI 53.5 up 8.2 pts. First close above EMA20 since the May slide. POC 4320 sits just below EMA50 4334 - that confluence zone is the magnet.
Entry: 4245-4255 pullback (Cam S3 4251 / classic pivot 4247) · Stop: 4170 (below yesterday low 4168.5, ~1 ATR) · T1: 4330 (EMA50/POC) · T2: 4447 (R3) · R:R: 1:1.05 to T1, 1:2.5 to T2
Caveat: rv 0.22 - thin volume day, wait for the pullback entry rather than chasing.

2. BNZL - Long continuation into 52w high (CONTINUING, 5th day)
Above all EMAs, 5-day up streak, +7.3% week, and the only large-cap mover on HEAVY volume (rv 1.4) - institutional participation. RSI 69.5 is knocking on overbought, so buy the dip not the rip. 52w high 2609 is 2% away.
Entry: 2505-2515 pullback (classic S1 2510) · Stop: 2455 (below S2 2465) · T1: 2589 (R1) · T2: 2667 (R3, post-breakout) · R:R: 1:1.4 / 1:2.9

3. WPP - Long speculative recovery (NEW signal today)
+5.5% with RSI up 11 pts, crossed above BOTH EMA20 (270.85) and EMA50 (267.82) in one session, above POC 255. Deep value recovery play - still 51% off its 52w high and far below EMA200 (325), so this is a trade, not an investment. MACD still bearish - half size until it crosses.
Entry: 271-272 pullback (Cam S3 272.4 / EMA20 270.85) · Stop: 264 (below EMA50) · T1: 283.6 (R1) · T2: 299 (R3) · R:R: 1:1.6 / 1:3.7

4. HSBA - Short on bounce (NEW breakdown today)
Broke below EMA20 AND EMA50 on -4.2% with RSI collapsing 11 pts. China offshore-account story is a structural overhang, not a one-day item. EMA50 (1333) and the classic pivot (1332) now cap any bounce - that is the entry zone.
Entry: 1330-1335 bounce (pivot/EMA50 confluence) · Stop: 1372 (above yesterday high 1369.8) · T1: 1295 (S1, near POC 1288) · T2: 1239 (S2) · R:R: 1:1 to T1 (take partials only), 1:2.4 to T2
POC at 1288 supports the short thesis - price is reverting toward it from above.

5. PRU - NO TRADE YET, watchlist only
RSI 22.3, stochRSI 0, -13.2% on the week, 5% above the 52w low (873). Massively oversold but NO exhaustion signal: closed on its low, MACD still widening bearish. Do not catch this knife. The mean-reversion long only becomes valid on a wide-range day that closes near its open, or an RSI higher-low against a price lower-low. First level worth watching: 873-885 (52w low / Cam S4 888.75).

INTRADAY SETUPS (from 9 June pivots and Camarilla)

GLEN - Camarilla range fade short
Direction: Short · Entry: 576-577 (classic pivot 576.93 + Cam R3 576.02 confluence) · Stop: 583 (above Cam R4 582.54) · T1: 563 (Cam S3) · T2: 556.5 (Cam S4 + POC 557 confluence) · R:R: 1:2 / 1:3
Why: fresh MACD bear cross, RSI -9.4 pts, daily trend just broke below EMA20. Pivot and Cam R3 stacked within 1 pt overhead, POC and Cam S4 stacked at the target. Cleanest level map of the day.

HSBA - Cam R3 fade short
Direction: Short · Entry: 1329-1333 (Cam R3 1329.51 + EMA50 1333) · Stop: 1346 (above Cam R4 1345.02) · T1: 1298.5 (Cam S3) · T2: 1283 (Cam S4, just below POC 1288) · R:R: 1:2 / 1:3
Why: daily breakdown day one, bearish MACD, sector-wide bank weakness. Counter-bounce into stacked resistance is the highest-probability fade.

STAN - Pivot rejection short
Direction: Short · Entry: 1844-1856 (Cam R2 1844.77 to Cam R3 1855.9) · Stop: 1892 (above Cam R4 1889.32) · T1: 1789 (Cam S3) · T2: 1756 (Cam S4) · R:R: 1:1.3 / 1:2.1
Why: hardest hit bank (-6%), RSI -12 pts, closed on its low. ATR 63 means it can travel. Note it closed BELOW Cam S1 - if no bounce materialises, the alternative is a breakdown continuation below 1811 (Cam S1) targeting 1781 (classic S1).

ULVR - Pivot bounce long
Direction: Long · Entry: 4247-4252 (Cam S3 4251.29 + classic pivot 4247.42) · Stop: 4215 (below Cam S4 4218.09) · T1: 4295.6 (Cam R1) · T2: 4317.7 (Cam R3) · R:R: 1:1.35 / 1:2
Why: fresh daily MACD bull cross gives directional bias, Cam S3 and classic pivot stacked within 4 pts. Long side only while above 4218.

BNZL - Camarilla breakout long (trend-day candidate)
Direction: Long · Entry: 2600 (break and hold above Cam R4 2598.9) · Stop: 2576 (back below Cam R3 2577.45) · T1: 2609 (52w high) · T2: 2667 (classic R3) · R:R: poor to T1 (1:0.4) - this trade is only worth taking for the T2 extension (1:2.8) on a confirmed 52w-high break
Why: only stock with heavy volume (rv 1.4) and a 5-day streak; a Cam R4 break above a 52w high is the classic trend-day signature. Skip if it opens more than 1% gapped up.

Tuesday 9 June 2026
Data: Close 8 June | UKX: ~10,370 (+0.02%, 3rd straight gain) | Futures: indicative modestly firmer, ~+0.2% (no clean live print confirmed)

MARKET OVERVIEW
The FTSE 100 closed Monday 8 June at roughly 10,370, up just 2 points (+0.02%) for a third consecutive gain, outperforming most global indices thanks to its light tech weighting. Sentiment was helped by oil easing off its highs on hopes of Middle East de-escalation, and by M&A flow (Tate & Lyle jumped on a GBP 2.7bn bid from Ingredion at 615p). Leaders: Entain +2.74%, Intertek +2.29%, BATS +1.5%. Laggards: housebuilders and Scottish Mortgage.

Internals are flat-to-mixed: of the 40 tracked names, breadth was balanced, almost every RSI sits in the 40-60 neutral band, and ADX is mostly sub-25 - a low-conviction, range-bound tape rather than a trending one. Treat breakouts with caution and respect the levels.

Note: LLOY printed a corrupt value in the feed (close 9944, "week +9824%") - clearly a data glitch, excluded from all setups below.

NOTABLE CHANGES (day / week over day)

WEAK ANTO - MACD BEARISH crossover, week -9.91%, RSI -15.9 pts. AAL also week -8.15%.

WEAK NG - crossed BELOW EMA200, -1.5% on the day, now bearish on all EMAs.
WEAK INF - crossed BELOW EMA20 AND MACD bearish crossover same day. ADM crossed below EMA20 too.
STRONG BNZL - 4-day up streak, week +8.65%, RSI +25.9 pts, heavy volume (rv 1.35). Clear leader.
STRONG GSK - week +5.21%, RSI +18 pts. AZN RSI +16.2 pts - pharma firming.
STRONG HSBA crossed ABOVE EMA20, SHEL crossed ABOVE EMA50, BATS crossed ABOVE POC.
STRONG REL, LSEG, RKT, IMB - fresh MACD BULLISH crossovers. CPG on a 5-day up streak.

SECTOR HEATMAP
WEAK Mining - the clear laggard. RIO, AAL, ANTO all down heavily on the week with collapsing RSI and bearish MACD. Only GLEN holding up (bull on all EMAs).
WEAK Utilities - NG broke below EMA200, SSE bearish below 20/50, both soft. Defensive bid absent.
WEAK Consumer Staples - mixed-to-weak: RKT, ULVR, DGE all bearish below all EMAs; BATS the exception (crossed above POC, +1.6%).
NEUTRAL Banks - split: HSBA/BARC/NWG bull on all EMAs and firm; STAN slipped below EMA20.
STRONG Industrials - BNZL leading hard, REL fresh MACD bull cross. INF the weak link.
STRONG Consumer Disc - CPG strong (5-day streak, RSI 63), bull on all EMAs.

TOP SWING SETUPS

BNZL - momentum leader, CONTINUING
Bull on all EMAs, 4-day up streak, RSI 63.9, MACD bull and widening, heavy volume (rv 1.35) confirming, well above POC 2328. Only caveat: extended toward the 2609 52w high. Buy pullbacks, not strength.
Entry: 2455-2470 · Stop: 2380 · T1: 2540 · T2: 2609 · R:R: ~1:1.6

CPG - quiet trend, CONTINUING
5-day up streak, bull on all EMAs, RSI 63, above POC 2914. Low ADX (8) means it grinds rather than spikes - suits patient adds.
Entry: 3260-3280 · Stop: 3200 · T1: 3370 · T2: 3450 · R:R: ~1:1.7

SHEL - fresh EMA50 reclaim, NEW
Crossed back above EMA50 (3222) Monday, now above all EMAs, MACD turning up. POC sits overhead at 3320 - that is the target and the test of conviction.
Entry: 3240-3250 · Stop: 3185 · T1: 3302 · T2: 3320 · R:R: ~1:1.2

HSBA - strongest bank, relative-strength leader
Only 3.2% off its 52w high - the strongest large-cap on the board. Crossed above EMA20, bull on all EMAs. MACD line still marginally below signal, so wants one more push to confirm.
Entry: 1372-1380 · Stop: 1345 · T1: 1402 · T2: 1416 · R:R: ~1:1.4

PRU - oversold bounce (counter-trend, NEW)
RSI 26.3, deeply oversold, week -10.74%, bear on all EMAs. NOT a trend trade - a mean-reversion scalp only, tight stop. Needs a green daily close to trigger.
Entry: 965+ on reversal · Stop: 948 · T1: 989 · T2: 1020 · R:R: ~1:1.4

BEARISH WARNINGS
NG - JUST crossed below EMA200; now bearish on all EMAs, weak utilities. Most actionable new breakdown.
INF - crossed below EMA20 AND bearish MACD crossover same day; momentum rolling over.
STAN / ADM - both crossed below EMA20; watch for follow-through.
RIO / ANTO / AAL - mining bloc in a clear downtrend (week -8 to -10%, RSI collapsing, ANTO MACD bear cross). Avoid longs.
III - -51% from 52w high, bear on all EMAs, persistent weakness.
PRU - RSI 26 oversold and -22% from highs; bounce-prone but the trend is firmly down - only for nimble counter-trend.
RKT / ULVR / DGE - staples grinding lower, all below every EMA.
Low-conviction tape: most rv readings are well under 0.5 (thin volume). Widen stops, size down, and do not chase breakouts that lack volume.

EVENTS CALENDAR (week ahead)
- UK labour market data (avg earnings, unemployment) typically mid-week - watch the morning release.
- US CPI later in the week is the key global macro risk for risk appetite.
- Middle East ceasefire headlines remain the swing factor for oil and energy names.
- M&A live: Tate & Lyle / Ingredion (615p cash) - read-across to ingredients/staples.
- Check RNS for ex-dividend dates among banks and miners this week before sizing.

Monday 8 June 2026
Data: Close 5 June (Fri) | UKX: ~10,368 | Futures: unconfirmed (see note)

1. MARKET OVERVIEW
The FTSE 100 closed Friday 5 June at ~10,368 (+0.07%), a second straight up day, outperforming a weak Wall Street as London's defensive mix shrugged off the global tech wobble. Gains were led by Unilever (+2.5%), British American Tobacco (+2.4%); miners and banks lagged with Rio Tinto -2%, Anglo, Antofagasta, Glencore all softer.

Futures note: No reliable cash-vs-futures number could be confirmed this morning. One feed showed a Jun-26 future near 10,640 but that is ~2.6% above Friday's cash close and inconsistent with the index level, so it is NOT used here. A separate model forecast pegged fair value near 10,439. Treat direction as NEUTRAL / unconfirmed until the cash open prints. Trade the levels, not a guessed gap.

Macro backdrop: UK CPI eased to 2.8% (April), BoE base rate held at 3.75%. Halifax house prices -0.1% in May. US jobs report came in strong, cooling rate-cut hopes and souring sentiment toward the AI rally.

2. NOTABLE CHANGES (day/week vs prior)
BP - Crossed ABOVE EMA20 and EMA50, MACD bullish crossover. Full recovery back over the moving averages.
ADM (Admiral) - Crossed ABOVE EMA20, EMA50 and POC in one session. Fresh momentum trigger.
AZN - Crossed ABOVE EMA20, MACD bullish crossover, +2.1% on the day.
CPG (Compass) - MACD bullish crossover, 4-day up streak, RSI 62 and leading.
GSK - Week +5.64%, RSI +19.8 pts on the week. Strongest pharma move.
NG (National Grid) - Crossed ABOVE EMA200, 4-day up streak.
RIO - Crossed BELOW EMA20, week -5.13%, RSI -16.6 pts on the week, -2.7% Friday. Clear breakdown.
GLEN - RSI dropped 9.4 pts, big move -3.5%. Sharp pullback (still above its EMAs for now).
HSBA - MACD bearish crossover. Momentum rolling over.
LSEG - Heavy volume (rv=1.7) on an up day; conviction behind the move.

3. SECTOR HEATMAP
STRONG - Consumer Services / Defensives: CPG (RSI 62, bull all EMAs), ADM (breakout), REL, LSEG (heavy-vol bull). Defensives doing the heavy lifting.
RECOVERING - Energy: BP reclaimed EMA20/50 with MACD turn; SHEL still mixed (below EMA50).
MIXED - Pharma: GSK and AZN both turning up (MACD crossovers) but still capped under EMA50; RKT remains weak (below all EMAs, -30% from highs).
WEAK - Miners: RIO breaking below EMA20, GLEN sharp pullback. Sector-wide softness, the day's clear laggard.
WEAK - Banks: HSBA MACD bearish crossover, momentum fading.
WEAK - Tobacco / Staples: BATS bounced +2.4% but still below EMA20/50; ULVR jumped (RSI +9.5) yet remains below ALL EMAs - relief rally, not a trend change.

8. BEARISH WARNINGS
RIO - Just lost EMA20 today, weekly RSI -16.6, leading miners lower. Watch 7503 pivot; below it the EMA50 (7540) is the line in the sand.
HSBA - MACD bearish crossover today; momentum rolling over despite price still above EMA50.
III (3i) - Below ALL EMAs, RSI 41, sitting -50.8% from its 52w high. Persistent downtrend, no reversal signal.
RKT - Below all EMAs, -30% from highs, MACD deeply negative. Friday's +1.6% is noise inside a downtrend.
DGE (Diageo) - Below all EMAs, -30% from highs; only positive is a reclaim of POC. Needs to clear EMA20 1520 to mean anything.
GLEN - RSI -9.4 in a day, -3.5% move. Still bull on EMAs but momentum cracked; watch EMA20 583 as the pivot.

9. EVENTS CALENDAR (week of 8 June)
- UK data light early week; watch for BoE speaker commentary and any RNS from tracked names.
- US CPI mid-week is the key global risk event for index direction.
- Ex-dividend dates rotate through several FTSE names early-mid June - check before holding income positions overnight.
- No confirmed earnings among the 20 tracked stocks this session; GSK and AZN pharma momentum worth monitoring into any sector newsflow.

Friday 5 June 2026
Data: Close Thursday 4 June | UKX: ~10,311 (Jun-4 close ~10,308, lowest since mid-May) | Cash open 5 Jun: ~10,332 then eased to ~10,311 (-0.2%) | Futures: no clean separate contract print confirmed (cash used)

1. MARKET OVERVIEW
FTSE 100 closed Thursday 4 June around 10,308-10,315, its lowest since mid-May, after a marginal -0.16% to -0.23% slip. Friday's cash session opened modestly firmer near 10,332 before drifting back to ~10,311 (about -0.2%). A standalone front-month futures level could not be reliably confirmed (one quoted figure of ~10,642 conflicts with the cash index by 300+ points, so it is treated as bad data and discarded per the no-fabrication rule).

Drivers: Brent crude slipped below $97 on an Israel-Lebanon ceasefire, easing inflation worry, though Netanyahu warned further strikes are possible. BoE Bank Rate sits at 3.75% with April CPI at 2.8%. UK new car sales rose 7.1% y/y in May (best May since 2019). Tone: cautious, energy and miners heavy, defensives soft.

9. EVENTS CALENDAR
Macro this week: UK new car sales already out (+7.1% y/y May). Watch US Non-Farm Payrolls (first Friday) for global risk tone; BoE next decision pending with Bank Rate at 3.75% and CPI 2.8%. Brent/oil headlines around the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire remain the key swing factor for energy and miners. Check RNS for ex-dividend dates on the large-cap payers (banks, miners, BP/SHEL) before sizing income positions.
