S&P 500 sector heatmap

Every S&P 500 stock grouped by sector and sized by market value, coloured by performance over the last week, month and three months. Money moving between sectors shows up as colour shifting from one block to another.

Last week

Which sectors led and lagged over the past five trading days.

Last month

One-month performance: is leadership starting to rotate?

Last 3 months

The bigger picture: which sectors have carried the index this quarter.

How to read a sector heatmap

Each rectangle is one company. Bigger rectangles are bigger companies, and companies in the same sector sit together in one block. Green means the share price rose over the period shown, red means it fell, grey means little change, and the stronger the colour, the bigger the move. The colour scale under each map shows the range.

A heatmap shows what has already happened. It's useful context, not a buy or sell signal on its own.
