Wednesday 22 July 2026
Data: close 21 Jul (latest scanner snapshot) · UKX: 10,585.91 (+0.6%) · Futures: ~10,482 (Investing.com, Sep contract - most of the gap to cash is the quarterly dividend discount, tone only modestly softer)
MARKET OVERVIEW
The FTSE 100 closed up 61 points at 10,585.91 (+0.6%) on Tuesday, led by defence stocks and a strong miner rally, as new Chancellor John Healey pledged fiscal discipline under incoming PM Andy Burnham. Copper jumped ~2.9% and copper miners worldwide outperformed the metal - Antofagasta, Anglo American and Glencore all rallied in tandem. Middle East risk (Strait of Hormuz, US-Iran mediation) is still swinging oil both ways. UK labour data came in stronger than expected and public borrowing improved.
Big week for macro: UK CPI lands this morning (Wed), ECB decides Thursday, and UK flash PMI Friday is previewed around 49.3 - contraction territory. Fed follows on 29 July. Expect index-level chop around these prints.
Verification: all 40 EMA classifications re-checked programmatically - zero mismatches. CPG pence-scale corrected (x100). AZN's daily low print (10,524) looks like a bad tick - its classic pivots are skewed, treat with caution.

TOP SWING SETUPS
1. AV - LONG (NEW - MACD bullish crossover)
Above all EMAs, RSI 65.5, 4-day up streak on near-average volume (rv 0.96, best on the board), POC 630 far below. 52w high 700.8 in range.
Entry: 670 pullback · Stop: 660 · T1: 686 (R3) · T2: 700 (52w high) · R:R: 1.6 / 3.0
Confluence: entry sits on classic S1 670.4 and Cam S4 670.8; stop is under S3 662.4 and roughly 1x ATR (13.4).
2. NWG - LONG (CONTINUING)
Strongest bank chart: above all EMAs, RSI 61.6 (+4.9 on the day), well above POC 612.7. Sector moved together (+1.4-2.0%) which is genuine breadth.
Entry: 670 pullback · Stop: 655 · T1: 690 (R2) · T2: 705 (52w high 705.4) · R:R: 1.3 / 2.3
Confluence: entry near Cam S4 668.2; stop below classic S2 654.6 and 1x ATR (15).
3. BARC - LONG (CONTINUING)
Above all EMAs and only -1.8% off the 52w high (531.3). MACD histogram still slightly negative so this is a breakout-retest play, not momentum chasing.
Entry: 515 pullback · Stop: 503 · T1: 531 (52w high + R2 531.2 confluence) · T2: 540 (R3 540.3) · R:R: 1.3 / 2.1
Confluence: entry between S1 512.7 and Cam S4 514.2; stop under S2 503.6; ATR 12.7.
4. GLEN - LONG (NEW - copper momentum)
Crossed above EMA20 yesterday with copper +2.9%. Still below EMA50 (538) and POC (557.7) - this is a recovery trade toward those magnets, not an established trend.
Entry: 531.5 breakout (above Cam R4 531.4) · Stop: 520 (under yesterday's low 520.4) · T1: 538 (EMA50 + R3 538.6 confluence) · T2: 557 (POC) · R:R: 0.6 / 2.2
Take partial at T1 - the EMA50/R3 cluster is the obvious stall point. Skip if copper reverses overnight.
5. BAE - LONG (CONTINUING - 4-day up streak)
Defence led Tuesday's tape. Reclaimed EMA20 (1879.9), still below EMA50/200 - recovery stage, ADX 41.6 shows the prior downtrend is losing grip.
Entry: 1908 pullback (Cam R1 + POC 1908.8 confluence) · Stop: 1875 · T1: 1944 (prev high) · T2: 1983 (R2) · R:R: 1.1 / 2.3
INTRADAY SETUPS
LLOY - pivot bounce LONG
Entry: 112.2 (pivot 112.22) · Stop: 111.2 (under Cam S4 111.56) · Target: 114.1 (R1) · R:R: 1.9
Why: pivot sits just above the Cam S4/EMA20 (110.
cluster; trend filter fully bullish so longs only.
STAN - pivot bounce LONG
Entry: 2103 (pivot 2102.8 = Cam S3 2102.3 exact confluence) · Stop: 2089 (under Cam S4 2090.6) · Target: 2129.7 (R1), stretch 2137 (Cam R4) · R:R: 1.9 / 2.5
Why: double-level confluence at entry, above-all-EMAs trend behind it.
ANTO - Camarilla breakout LONG
Entry: 3780 (above Cam R4 3779.3) · Stop: 3733 (Cam R3) · T1: 3813 (R2) · T2: 3917 (R3) · R:R: 0.7 / 2.9
Why: +5.6% copper day, RSI +8.4 - continuation play only on a clean break; partials at T1. Caution: rv was 0.37, so demand real volume on the break.
HSBA - Camarilla range LONG
Entry: 1497.5 (Cam S3 1497.4) · Stop: 1488 (under Cam S4 1489.3) · Target: 1513.4 (Cam R3) · R:R: 1.7
Why: strongest big-cap bank by RSI (63.
, MACD bull, buy-the-dip regime while above all EMAs.
WPP - breakdown continuation SHORT
Entry: 273.9 (below yesterday's low 274.1) · Stop: 278.3 (pivot 278.24) · T1: 270.4 (S1, near EMA20 271.0) · T2: 267.9 (Cam S4) · R:R: 0.8 / 1.4
Why: -5% close on the lows, RSI -8.4. Modest R:R - only take on a weak open; cover T1 partials at the EMA20 cluster.

BEARISH WARNINGS
LSEG - fresh break below EMA20 AND EMA50 yesterday, below POC, 3-day down streak, -4.8% on the week, RSI -13 on the week. Next support Cam S4 7903 zone / June lows. (Data note: yesterday's low print 7520 looks like a bad tick - don't anchor to it.)
SGE - bear (below all EMAs), fresh cross below EMA20 and EMA50, below POC 854. 52w low 771.7 is the magnet if 828 support goes.
REL - fresh cross below EMA50 and below POC on the same day, -2.4%. Sector-wide weakness with LSEG/EXPN makes this structural, not noise.
NG - fresh cross below EMA20 plus MACD bearish crossover, below POC. Defensive rotation is not helping it.
RKT - RSI dropped 8.8 pts, fresh break below EMA20, -2.3%. Staples group all red together.
ULVR - fresh break below EMA20, below EMA200 (4678). MACD rolling over.
AZN - RSI 35.7, below all EMAs, -20.7% off the 52w high. Weakest large-cap chart on the board. Watch 52w low 10,466.
III - heavy volume (rv 1.5 - the only above-average print on the board) on a 3-day down streak. Distribution risk; below EMA20.

Data: close Mon 20 Jul 2026 (latest scanner snapshot, 40 FTSE names) | UKX 10,524-10,543 (sources differ), -0.5% to -0.7% | Futures 10,482.3
MARKET OVERVIEW
The FTSE 100 closed Monday 20 July DOWN, at 10,543 per Trading Economics and 10,524 per Proactive Investors - a fall of roughly 0.5% to 0.7% and the biggest one-day drop in about two weeks. Driver was continued US-Iran tension sapping global risk appetite, layered on domestic politics after Andy Burnham took office as PM with attention now on his Chancellor pick.
Futures - read this before you trade the gap. The FTSE 100 future is quoted at 10,482.3 (opened 10,493.6, range 10,445.8-10,507.7, volume 9,309 - Investing.com UK 100 Futures). That is about 61 points BELOW the cash close. This is the September contract trading ex-dividend, not a 61-point bearish gap. FTSE yield near 3.4% over roughly two months to expiry is worth about 58 points of discount, which accounts for essentially the whole gap. Do not trade this as a directional signal. Fair-value adjusted, futures are broadly FLAT versus Monday's close.
Macro backdrop: Bank Rate held at 3.75% on 18 June, fourth consecutive hold. CPI 2.8% in May, services 3.7%, core 2.6%. The Bank expects CPI just under 3% in Q3 and just over 3.25% in Q4. Next MPC decision and Monetary Policy Report land 30 July. Labour market continues to soften - vacancies at a five-year low.
Breadth is better than the index suggests. Of the 40 tracked names, 29 sit above both their 20 and 50-day EMAs and 27 are above their 60-day volume POC. The index fall was concentrated in miners, pharma and utilities.
Volume caveat. Relative volume is thin across the board - 28 of 40 names printed rv below 0.5 and NOT ONE exceeded 1.5. Every move in this dataset was made on light participation. Size down and widen stops accordingly.

TOP SWING SETUPS
1. PRU LONG - NEW (triggered Monday)
Entry: 1052-1058 · Stop: 1030 · T1: 1089.5 · T2: 1120 · R:R: 1.3 then 2.5
Reclaimed EMA50 (1045.91) and EMA200 (1051.41) in a single session, +1.15% on a red tape. Confluence is the point: EMA50, EMA200 and POC (1042.67) all cluster between 1042 and 1052, giving a tight, well-defined support shelf. Stop sits below Monday's low (1031.5) and EMA20 (1038.02). T1 is classic R3. Caveat: ADX 14.7 means no established trend yet and rv 0.52 is thin - this is an early-stage reclaim, not a momentum chase. Size accordingly.
2. BATS LONG - NEW (MACD crossover Monday)
Entry: 4660-4700 · Stop: 4548 · T1: 4855 · T2: 5010 · R:R: 1.4 then 2.6
MACD bullish crossover on a 4-day up streak, week +6.74%, weekly RSI +18.1 points. Bullish above all three EMAs with ADX 25.1 confirming a trend is forming. RSI 57.0 leaves genuine headroom - this is not extended. Stop is placed below the EMA20/EMA50 cluster (4553.71 / 4541.11) which also brackets POC at 4530.77 - a triple-confluence floor. Above 4705 (Monday high) the path to classic R3 4791.67 is clean. Tobacco was one of the few staples groups holding up.
3. EXPN LONG - CONTINUING (2-day up streak, accelerating)
Entry: 2770-2790 · Stop: 2680 · T1: 2890 · T2: 2990 · R:R: 1.1 then 2.1
Best FTSE performer Monday at +2.42% on a down day for the index - that is real relative strength. Week +4.49%, RSI 65.5, ADX 24.4, trading far above POC 2603.29. Stop below Camarilla S4 (2741.25) and the day's low (2707), sized at roughly 1 ATR (100.5). The wall: EMA200 sits at 2906.81 and the stock is 32.0% off its 52-week high - expect the first serious rejection there. T1 at classic R3 2890.47 is deliberately set just underneath it. Do not hold blindly through 2900.
4. RIO SHORT - NEW (EMA200 break Monday)
Entry: 6630-6650 · Stop: 6790 · T1: 6445 · T2: 6280 · R:R: 1.3 then 2.5
The highest-conviction short. Crossed below EMA200 (6654.74) AND printed a MACD bearish crossover on a 4-day down streak, all in one session. ADX 41.3 is the strongest trend reading on the entire board - this is a directional market, not chop. Price is a long way below POC 7464.71, meaning there is no volume shelf to catch it until well below current levels. RSI 35.4 is weak but not yet oversold-extreme. T1 is classic S3 6445. Invalidation is a reclaim of EMA200. Sector backdrop supports it: copper and iron ore under pressure, Iran risk premium in oil.
5. AAL SHORT - NEW (EMA200 break Monday)
Entry: below 3338 · Stop: 3420 · T1: 3261 · T2: 3150 · R:R: 0.9 then 2.3
Crossed below EMA200 (3372.15) and closed at 3369.00 - effectively sitting on it, so this needs a trigger rather than an immediate entry. Wait for a break of Monday's low at 3338 before engaging. Week -8.43% on a 4-day down streak, RSI 36.8, ADX 28.2, well below POC 3773.55. T1 is classic S3 3261.33. Caveat: T1 R:R is under 1 - the trade only pays properly if it runs to T2. Consider it a runner, not a scalp.
INTRADAY SETUPS
Important structural note: every one of the 40 tracked names closed INSIDE its Camarilla S3-R3 band. Not a single breakout or breakdown signal in the entire universe. Combined with universally thin relative volume, Monday was a compression day. The correct intraday playbook today is Camarilla range reversion - fade the extremes - and NOT breakout chasing. If a name does clear R3 or S3 with genuine volume, that becomes significant precisely because nothing did yesterday.
1. SHEL - Camarilla long reversion (trend-aligned)
Entry: 3197.56 (cam S3) · Stop: 3168 · T1: 3231.48 (cam R1) · T2: 3248.44 (cam R3) · R:R: 1.2 then 1.7
LONG. Bullish above all three EMAs with RSI 64.1 and ADX 27.7. Buying the S3 dip means buying with the daily trend, not against it. Stop sits below Camarilla S4 (3172.13). Oil holding a geopolitical bid supports the sector - Energy was one of only two green sectors.
2. RIO - Camarilla short reversion (trend-aligned)
Entry: 6683.78 (cam R3) · Stop: 6730 · T1: 6632.08 (cam S1) · T2: 6606.23 (cam S3) · R:R: 1.1 then 1.7
SHORT. Fading R3 also fades the freshly broken EMA200 at 6654.74 - a rally into 6683 is a retest of broken support from below, which is the textbook short entry. Stop above Camarilla R4 (6722.55). ADX 41.3 says the downtrend has real force behind it.
3. AZN - Camarilla short reversion (trend-aligned)
Entry: 12482.20 (cam R3) · Stop: 12560 · T1: 12391.27 (cam S1) · T2: 12345.80 (cam S3) · R:R: 1.2 then 1.7
SHORT. Bearish below all three EMAs, weakest RSI on the board at 34.5, trading 1113 points below POC 13527.09. Stop above Camarilla R4 (12550.40). Pharma was the second-worst sector Monday with AZN and GSK moving together. Large ATR (453.42) means position size must come down.
4. EXPN - Camarilla long reversion (momentum continuation)
Entry: 2762.98 (cam S3) · Stop: 2735 · T1: 2791.94 (cam R1) · T2: 2806.43 (cam R3) · R:R: 1.0 then 1.5
LONG. Same name as swing setup 3 but a tighter intraday expression. Buying the S3 dip in the day's strongest FTSE performer. Stop below Camarilla S4 (2741.25). Alternative aggressive trigger: a clean break of Monday's high 2786.00 targets classic R1 2811.47.
5. HSBA - Camarilla long reversion (trend-aligned)
Entry: 1475.10 (cam S3) · Stop: 1466 · T1: 1483.24 (cam R1) · T2: 1493.41 (cam R4) · R:R: 0.9 then 2.0
LONG. Bullish above all three EMAs, RSI 59.4, MACD above signal, ADX 31.0 - a strong trend. The whole banking sector fell uniformly Monday on macro risk-off rather than anything stock-specific, and all five UK banks remain technically bullish. That makes bank weakness a dip to buy rather than a trend change. Stop below Camarilla S4 (1468.99). T1 R:R is under 1, so weight the position toward T2.

BEARISH WARNINGS
Ranked by freshness of breakdown - the newest breaks carry the most information.
1. RIO - broke EMA200 Monday. Simultaneous MACD bearish crossover, 4-day down streak, ADX 41.3. Nothing structurally supportive until well below 6445. Highest-conviction short on the board.
2. AAL - broke EMA200 Monday. Closed at 3369.00 against EMA200 3372.15, so it is balanced right on the line. Week -8.43%. Confirmation is a break of 3338.
3. NG - broke EMA50 AND POC Monday. Close 1236.50 vs EMA50 1240.30 and POC 1241.78, RSI -5.3 on the day. Worst sector on the board. EMA200 at 1213.88 is the next real support and it is only 23 points away.
4. GSK - one point from a full breakdown. Close 1883.50 against EMA200 1882.52. Already below EMA20 and EMA50, RSI 39.8, below POC. A close under 1882 flips it to bearish below all three EMAs and joins AZN. Watch this today.
5. III - broke EMA20 Monday. Week -4.64%, ADX 38.6, and 43.8% below its 52-week high - the deepest drawdown in the universe.
6. BNZL - the hidden one. Still technically bullish above all three EMAs, but RSI fell 11 points in a single session (largest drop on the board) on a -2.00% day, and rv was just 0.22. Momentum has broken before price has. EMA20 at 2672.67 is the level that matters.
7. AZN - already broken. Below all three EMAs, RSI 34.5 (weakest on board), 21.1% below its 52-week high, 1113 points below POC. No reversal signal present yet.
8. ANTO - EMA200 is the last line. Week -9.69%, the worst on the board. Below EMA20 and EMA50 with EMA200 at 3437.28 just 57 points below Monday's close. If that goes, all four major miners are in structural downtrends.
EVENTS CALENDAR
Confirmed
30 July - Bank of England MPC decision and quarterly Monetary Policy Report. Bank Rate currently 3.75% after four consecutive holds. This is the dominant scheduled UK risk event of the period.
This week
UK corporate reporting season is active - around 120 earnings reports were scheduled globally for Tuesday 21 July, with a run of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 results and trading updates across the 20-24 July week. RIO's monthly output update is due later in July and is directly relevant to the short thesis above. I could not confirm a specific name-by-name FTSE 100 reporting schedule for today from available sources - check the RNS feed before opening positions in any tracked name, particularly the miners and pharma names flagged in the warnings section.
Live macro drivers
US-Iran tensions - driving the oil bid and the global risk-off tone that produced Monday's fall.
UK politics - Andy Burnham has taken office as PM; the Chancellor appointment is the near-term catalyst. Gilts were reported calm through the transition.
Commodities - copper, iron ore and lithium all under pressure, which is the direct cause of the mining sector breakdowns.
Ex-dividend dates - not available in this dataset. Verify independently before holding any of the income names (LGEN, AV, IMB, BATS, HSBA) through a setup.
SUMMARY
Index down but breadth constructive - 29 of 40 above their 20 and 50-day EMAs, 27 above POC. The damage is concentrated and identifiable: miners (two EMA200 breaks), pharma, utilities. Leadership sits in data and media names (EXPN, WPP, REL) and tobacco (BATS, IMB).
Longs: PRU is the cleanest fresh trigger, BATS the best momentum-plus-headroom combination, SHEL and HSBA the best trend-aligned intraday dip buys.
Shorts: RIO is the standout, with the strongest trend reading on the board and a fresh EMA200 break.
Watch: GSK sits one point from a full breakdown, BNZL is losing momentum beneath an intact price structure.
Two disciplines matter more than usual today. First, the 61-point futures discount is a dividend artefact, not a gap - do not fade or chase it. Second, no name closed outside its Camarilla band and 28 of 40 printed rv below 0.5. Trade reversion, not breakouts, and size for thin liquidity.
Not financial advice. Always DYOR. Capital at risk.

NOTABLE CHANGES (day over day vs Fri 17 Jul)
PRU - crossed ABOVE both EMA50 and EMA200 on the same session. Close 1056.00, EMA50 1045.91, EMA200 1051.41. Cleanest fresh long trigger on the board.
RIO - crossed BELOW EMA200 AND printed a MACD bearish crossover on a 4-day down streak. Close 6645.00 vs EMA200 6654.74. Week -4.22%.
AAL - crossed BELOW EMA200. Close 3369.00 vs EMA200 3372.15 - sitting right on it. Week -8.43%, 4-day down streak. Worst FTSE weekly performer bar ANTO.
BATS - MACD BULLISH crossover, 4-day up streak, week +6.74%, RSI up 18.1 points on the week. Bullish above all three EMAs.
RTO - crossed ABOVE EMA50 on a 4-day up streak. Close 450.60, EMA50 450.04. Marginal but fresh.
NG - crossed BELOW EMA50 and BELOW POC on the same day. Close 1236.50, EMA50 1240.30, POC 1241.78. RSI -5.3.
BNZL - RSI collapsed 11 points and price fell 2.00% despite still holding above all EMAs. Largest single-day RSI deterioration on the board. Watch it.
INF - crossed ABOVE EMA20 (close 886.00 vs 885.71). Wafer thin, needs confirmation.
III - crossed BELOW EMA20, 2-day down streak, week -4.64%.

Data: close Friday 17 July 2026 - latest scanner snapshot · UKX cash close: 10,600.37 (+28.13, +0.27%) · Futures: 10,482.3 (see roll note)
MARKET OVERVIEW
Data date: the scanner snapshot below is Friday 17 July's close. These are NOT live Monday levels - treat every price, pivot and Camarilla level as derived from Friday's session.
The FTSE 100 closed Friday at 10,600.37, up 28.13 points (+0.27%), finishing the week roughly +1%. London materially outperformed while a savage global semiconductor selloff hit Wall Street and Europe - the index's light technology weighting did the work. The intraday low was 10,527.65 before defensives dragged it back.
Futures - contract roll caveat. The quoted FTSE 100 future prints 10,482.3 (Investing.com), roughly 118 points BELOW the cash close. That discount is the dividend-discount effect on a far-dated contract after the quarterly roll - it is NOT a directional gap and should not be read as a 1.1% overnight drop. The reliable directional read is the sell-side opening call, which had the FTSE 100 seen opening around 0.15% lower - effectively flat-to-marginally-soft.
Macro drivers today:
- Andy Burnham becomes Prime Minister today, pledging an "unashamedly Labour" government focused on economic renewal, reindustrialisation and devolution away from Westminster. Market reaction to the leadership handover has so far been muted, but domestic-facing names, utilities and infrastructure/construction exposure carry headline risk in both directions.
- Middle East / Strait of Hormuz tensions remain the dominant risk input, and have driven the oil bid that is powering SHEL and BP.
- Global chip selloff continued into Friday - CDNS -12.65% and SNPS -11.42% on the week in the crossed US feed. FTSE has almost no direct exposure, which is precisely why it outperformed, but a second leg lower would eventually pull global risk appetite down with it.
- UK GDP returned to growth in May at +0.1% m/m, but industrial production fell 0.5% m/m against an expected -0.1%.
NOTABLE CHANGES - DAY OVER DAY
NG - the single biggest signal cluster on the board. RSI surged 10.6 points to 55.6, crossed ABOVE EMA20, ABOVE EMA50 and ABOVE POC, MACD bullish crossover, +3.3% on the day. Everything fired at once.
BATS - RSI +8.0 to 57.0, crossed ABOVE both EMA20 and EMA50, +2.95% on the day, +6.33% on the week. Now BULLISH above all three EMAs.
IMB - RSI +8.5 to 62.1, crossed ABOVE EMA50, MACD bullish crossover, +6.89% on the week with RSI up 24.1 points across five sessions. The strongest weekly momentum shift in the FTSE universe.
PRU - crossed BELOW EMA50 AND BELOW EMA200 on the same session. The freshest structural breakdown on the board.
LSEG - crossed BELOW EMA200, -1.28% on the day, RSI -3.9 to 54.9.
GSK - crossed BELOW POC on heavy volume (rv 1.70), -2.02%, RSI -5.8 to 44.2.
III - RSI dropped 9.8 points, MACD bearish crossover, -2.53% on the day.
AV - RSI surged 8.2 points to 64.3, +2.03%, second consecutive up day.
SECTOR HEATMAP
TOBACCO - STRONGEST. BATS +2.95%, IMB +2.32%. Both crossed above EMA50 on the same day, both with MACD confirmation, both up over 6% on the week. This is a genuine co-ordinated sector rotation, not two isolated moves.
UTILITIES - STRONG. NG +3.33%, SSE +2.43%. Classic defensive bid into a global tech selloff, and NG's move came with a full signal stack.
ENERGY - STRONG. SHEL +2.41%, BP +1.35%. Hormuz-driven crude bid. SHEL is BULLISH above all EMAs and above POC; BP is above all EMAs but still BELOW its POC at 524.34.
INSURANCE - FIRM BUT SPLIT. AV +2.03%, ADM +2.13%, LGEN +0.64% (MACD bullish crossover, 4-day up streak) - all three BULLISH above all EMAs. But PRU -0.85% broke below EMA50 and EMA200. Do not treat the sector as one trade.
MINING - WEAKEST. ANTO -2.70%, AAL -2.44%, RIO -0.22%, GLEN flat. Three-day down streaks on AAL and ANTO, heavy volume throughout (RIO rv 2.53, ANTO rv 2.45, AAL rv 1.91), and every one of them trading well below its POC. Heavy volume on downside is distribution, not capitulation - this sector is being sold, not shaken out.
PHARMA - WEAK. AZN -0.27% and the only stock on the board BEARISH below all three EMAs. GSK -2.02% and BEARISH below EMA20/50.
BANKS - MIXED. BARC -1.54%, STAN -1.22%, LLOY -1.02%, HSBA -0.11%, NWG +0.72%. All five remain BULLISH above all EMAs - Friday was profit-taking within an intact uptrend, not a trend change.

RIO 6726.0 (-0.22%, RSI 37.4, -26.2%, below POC 7471.9, rv 2.53 HEAVY)
BEARISH - below all EMAs (1):
AZN 12594.0 (-0.27%, RSI 36.5, -19.9%, below POC 13546.6). MACD -307.96 against signal -136.56 - deeply negative and still widening.

BAE 1880.0 - above EMA20 1876.8, below EMA50 1918.9, below EMA200 1932.8 (+2.51%, RSI 49.4, crossed above EMA20)

RTO 450.0 - above EMA20 443.6, below EMA50 450.0, above EMA200 443.5 (+0.13%, RSI 54.9)
Data-quality flag: HSBA's Friday range reads high 1492.2 / low 1350.0 - a 142p spread against an ATR of 40.7. That low is almost certainly a bad print. HSBA's classic pivots and Camarilla levels are therefore unreliable and it has been excluded from the intraday setups below.
TOP SWING SETUPS
1. IMB - LONG - NEW
The cleanest fresh momentum shift on the board. Crossed above EMA50 at 2792.87, MACD bullish crossover, RSI +8.5 to 62.1, +6.89% on the week with RSI up 24.1 points across five days. Trading above POC 2776. Overhead resistance is EMA200 at 2920.96.
Entry: 2870 · Stop: 2826 · T1: 2921 · T2: 2990 · R:R: 1:1.2 then 1:2.7
Confluence: stop sits at Camarilla S4 2826 and just above EMA50 2792.87. T1 is the EMA200. T2 is classic R3 2989.67.
Caution: rv 0.53 - this rallied on thin volume. Size down or widen the stop to 2790 and halve the position.
2. NG - LONG - NEW
Six signals fired simultaneously: RSI +10.6, crossed above EMA20 1235.39, above EMA50 1240.46, above POC 1242.03, MACD bullish crossover, and a +3.3% daily move. Defensive utility bid with a domestic-infrastructure policy tailwind under the incoming government.
Entry: 1257 · Stop: 1234 · T1: 1313 · T2: 1360 · R:R: 1:2.4 then 1:4.5
Confluence: stop 1234 sits at Camarilla S4 1234.73 and beneath EMA20/EMA50/POC - all three cluster in a tight 1235-1242 band, so a break below 1234 invalidates the entire thesis at once. T1 is classic R3 1312.83.
Caution: rv 0.75 - thin. Also the most direct Burnham-headline exposure on this list, in both directions.
3. SHEL - LONG - CONTINUING
BULLISH above all EMAs, RSI 65.6, +2.41% on Friday, second consecutive up day, trading above POC 3129.53. The Hormuz crude bid is the live catalyst.
Entry: 3236 · Stop: 3169 · T1: 3356 · T2: 3450 · R:R: 1:1.8 then 1:3.2
Confluence: stop 3169 is Friday's low and a shade above classic S1 3185 - roughly 1.1 ATR of room. T1 is classic R3 3356.33.
Note: rv 1.11 - genuine participation, the best volume quality of the three longs. This is the highest-conviction setup on the board.
4. BATS - LONG - NEW
Crossed above EMA20 4541.57 and EMA50 4535.89 in the same session, RSI +8.0 to 57.0, above POC 4523.76, +6.33% on the week. EMA20 and EMA50 are only 6 points apart - a textbook compression-then-expansion base.
Entry: 4669 · Stop: 4530 · T1: 4827 · T2: 5000 · R:R: 1:1.1 then 1:2.4
Confluence: stop 4530 sits below the EMA20/EMA50/POC cluster at 4524-4542. T1 is classic R3 4827.33. rv 1.30 - decent conviction.
Note: still 12.3% below its 52-week high of 5326, so there is genuine room overhead.
5. BNZL - WATCH ONLY - NOT A BUY HERE
Sitting at 2796 against a 52-week high of 2800, five-day up streak, BULLISH above all EMAs. But RSI is 74.7 and OVERBOUGHT, and rv is only 0.74 - a five-day advance on below-average volume pressing into the highs. Wait for a breakout above 2800 that arrives with rv above 1.0, or a pullback towards EMA20 2665.59. Chasing here is poor risk.
INTRADAY SETUPS
All levels are Friday's Camarilla and classic pivots. Re-derive from Monday's actual open before acting.
1. SHEL - CAMARILLA BREAKOUT LONG
Trigger: sustained trade above Camarilla R3 3259.51 · Entry: 3260 · Stop: 3243 · T1: 3283 · T2: 3306 · R:R: 1:1.4 then 1:2.7
Why: closed at 3236, only 24 points below R3, with a live crude catalyst and daily trend fully aligned. Breaking R3 in a stock already above all EMAs is the highest-probability Camarilla long configuration. T1 is Camarilla R4 3283.03, T2 is classic R2 3305.67.
2. AAL - CAMARILLA RANGE SHORT
Trigger: rejection at Camarilla R3 3426.95 · Entry: 3425 · Stop: 3456 · T1: 3388 · T2: 3346 · R:R: 1:1.2 then 1:2.5
Why: BEARISH below EMA20 3642.67 and EMA50 3704.18, RSI 37.8, three-day down streak, heavy distribution volume (rv 1.91), and trading 375 points below POC 3775.84. Selling strength into R3 within a confirmed downtrend. Stop 3456 is just above Camarilla R4 3453.90. T1 is the pivot 3388, T2 is Camarilla S4 3346.10.
3. ANTO - CAMARILLA RANGE SHORT
Trigger: rejection at Camarilla R3 3535.55 · Entry: 3533 · Stop: 3582 · T1: 3460 · T2: 3402 · R:R: 1:1.5 then 1:2.7
Why: the weakest name in the weakest sector. RSI 38.4, -7.06% on the week, three-day down streak, rv 2.45 (heaviest genuine selling on the board), and 414 points below POC 3904.83. Stop 3582 sits above Camarilla R4 3580.10. T1 is the pivot 3460.33, T2 is Camarilla S4 3401.90.
Caution: ATR is 176 - this is the widest-ranging name here. Size accordingly.
4. LSEG - CAMARILLA BREAKDOWN SHORT
Trigger: sustained trade below Camarilla S3 8884.50 · Entry: 8880 · Stop: 8950 · T1: 8791 · T2: 8682 · R:R: 1:1.3 then 1:2.8
Why: freshly crossed BELOW EMA200 9013.99 and closed below POC 8966.82 - the first time both have broken together. Closed at 8978, right on Camarilla S1 8946.83. T1 is Camarilla S4 8791, T2 is classic S2 8682. Stop 8950 sits back above S1.
Caution: ATR reads 484.63 against a Friday range of only 340 - unusually wide. Treat the ATR-derived sizing with scepticism.
5. NG - CAMARILLA BREAKOUT LONG
Trigger: sustained trade above Camarilla R3 1268.14 · Entry: 1268 · Stop: 1258 · T1: 1279 · T2: 1288 · R:R: 1:1.1 then 1:2.0
Why: the intraday expression of swing setup 2. Closed 1257, just 11 points below R3, with six bullish signals firing on Friday. T1 is Camarilla R4 1279.28, T2 is classic R2 1287.67. Tight stop below Friday's close.

BEARISH WARNINGS
PRU - FRESHEST BREAKDOWN. Crossed BELOW EMA50 1045.50 AND BELOW EMA200 1051.36 in a single session, closing at 1044.0. RSI -5.0 to 52.4, second consecutive down day. Now MIXED - above EMA20 1036.13 but below both longer averages. EMA20 at 1036.13 is the last support standing; below it PRU is BEARISH below all EMAs.
LSEG - EMA200 LOST. Crossed BELOW EMA200 9013.99 and closed at 8978, also beneath POC 8966.82. -17.2% from its 52-week high. Two structural supports broke together.
AZN - THE ONLY FULL BEAR. The single name on the board BEARISH below all three EMAs. Close 12594 against EMA20 13323.43, EMA50 13621.06 and EMA200 13505.01 - it is 7% below its own 20-day. RSI 36.5, MACD -307.96 versus signal -136.56 and diverging further. Trading 953 points below POC 13546.63. No evidence of a base. Avoid longs entirely.
MINING COMPLEX - DISTRIBUTION. AAL, ANTO, RIO and GLEN are all BEARISH below EMA20/50 and all four trade below their POC. Crucially the selling is on heavy volume - RIO rv 2.53, ANTO rv 2.45, AAL rv 1.91. Volume expanding on the downside is institutional distribution, not a washout. RIO did post a MACD bullish crossover, but with price 746 points below POC 7471.95 and RSI at 37.4 that is a bounce signal inside a downtrend, not a reversal. Do not bottom-fish this sector yet.
GSK - POC LOST ON VOLUME. Crossed BELOW POC 1931.71 on rv 1.70, -2.02%, RSI -5.8 to 44.2. BEARISH below EMA20 1952.02 and EMA50 1954.74. EMA200 1883.01 is the next test, 33 points below.
III - MOMENTUM BREAK. RSI collapsed 9.8 points, MACD bearish crossover, -2.53%, rv 1.43. Still technically above EMA20/50 but 42.7% below its 52-week high - by far the largest drawdown on the board.
WATCH - INF. Crossed BELOW EMA20 885.70, RSI -7.5 to 52.8. Early-stage, but the first crack.
WATCH - SGE. rv 2.51 on a -0.52% day, closing below POC 855.20. Heavy volume with no price progress is usually a warning.
WATCH - RR.. Five-day down streak, -3.12% on the week, below EMA20 1403.50. Still above EMA50 and EMA200, so the primary trend is intact, but the short-term momentum has clearly rolled.
EVENTS CALENDAR
Today, Monday 20 July - Andy Burnham formally becomes Prime Minister. Expect a first policy statement on economic renewal, reindustrialisation and devolution. Highest headline sensitivity: utilities (NG, SSE), construction and infrastructure, domestic banks, and anything with regulated-return exposure. This is the dominant scheduled event of the day for UK equities.
Ongoing - Middle East / Strait of Hormuz. Unscheduled but the single largest driver of SHEL and BP, and a live tail risk for the whole index. Any escalation headline moves energy first and the index second.
This week - a heavy UK reporting week, building through midweek: roughly 46 companies report Monday, 120 Tuesday, 182 Wednesday, 271 Thursday and 102 Friday across the whole UK market. Wednesday and Thursday are the concentration points.
Recent context - Burberry fell 6.4% on Q2 earnings that missed, with management flagging Middle East conflict as a demand risk. Relevant read-across for luxury and discretionary exposure.
Honest caveat: individual FTSE 100 reporting dates for this week could not be confirmed to a reliable source in this run. Check the RNS calendar directly before holding any of the above setups through a results date. IMB, BATS, SHEL, NG, AAL and ANTO should all be checked specifically.
SUMMARY
Friday's session was a clean defensive rotation - tobacco, utilities and energy bid hard while miners were distributed on heavy volume and pharma stayed broken. The FTSE's structural advantage right now is what it does not own: with global semis in a genuine drawdown, London's lack of tech exposure is a feature.
The board is net constructive - 28 of 40 names are above both EMA20 and EMA50, only one is bearish below all three. But the leadership has rotated decisively into defensives, which is not typically what a market looks like when it is about to run.
Highest conviction: SHEL long - the only setup combining full trend alignment, a live catalyst and genuine volume (rv 1.11). IMB and NG have the better signal stacks but both rallied on thin volume, so size them down.
Highest conviction short: ANTO - weakest name, weakest sector, heaviest genuine selling.
Avoid entirely: AZN, and do not bottom-fish the miners.
Remember every level here is Friday's. Re-derive pivots from Monday's open, and respect the futures roll caveat - the 118-point discount is mechanical, not directional.
Not financial advice. Always DYOR. Capital at risk.

Data: close Thu 16 Jul (latest scanner snapshot, 40 FTSE names) · UKX cash close 10,572.24 (+0.5%) · FTSE futures (Sep-26 contract) ~10,482 - Investing.com
MARKET OVERVIEW
The FTSE 100 closed Thursday at 10,572.24, up 56.32 (+0.5%), recovering from an early -0.4% dip. Engineers led after ABB's GBP 4.1bn / 506p cash bid for Rotork (73% premium). UK May GDP rose +0.1% m/m with 3-month growth at +0.7%, the fastest in 13 months, but gilts and the pound stayed nervous around the new Chancellor's appointment. Middle East tension (US-Iran, Hormuz) keeps oil bid - a tailwind for SHEL and BP - while soft China GDP hit miners hard: ANTO -4.1%, AAL -1.7%, RIO -1.9%.
Futures check: the front future (Sep-26, post-June roll) trades ~10,482 vs cash 10,572. Most of that ~90pt discount is the September contract's dividend discount, NOT a directional gap - read the open as broadly flat-to-cautious. Swing factors this morning: UK June retail sales and flash PMIs (UK/EZ/US) released today.

MEDIA/COMMS - WPP and VOD leading the week (+6.4% / +5.3%); REL, INF steady bulls.

Data: close 15 Jul (latest scanner snapshot) · UKX ~10,480 cash · FTSE future ~10,425 (Investing.com, front contract)
MARKET OVERVIEW
Levels below are the 15 July close — the freshest scanner snapshot on the feed (no 16 Jul data posted yet). FTSE future was quoted around 10,425 (Investing.com) versus a cash close near 10,480 on the 15th; the small gap is broadly the dividend/contract-roll discount rather than a hard directional signal, so treat the open as roughly FLAT to slightly soft. The 15th saw miners drag the index while banks held firm. Macro backdrop: BoE Bank Rate 3.75%, UK CPI 2.8% (May), with forecasters eyeing ~3.5% into Q4 on the energy cap. US-Iran / Strait of Hormuz tension keeps a bid under crude. Not financial advice.

Data: close 14 Jul (latest scanner snapshot) - UKX: 10,529.39 (+0.30%) - Futures: ~10,425 (Investing.com, 07:00; Sep contract trades below cash on dividend discount - NOT a directional gap; futures firmed from a 10,393 open, pointing to a flat-to-slightly-firmer start)
MARKET OVERVIEW
The FTSE 100 closed Tuesday at 10,529.39, up 0.30% and the best of the major European bourses, rallying from an early low of 10,422.98 to a 10,552.56 session high. Two forces drove the reversal: softer-than-expected US inflation lifted rate-cut bets, and strong US bank earnings pulled UK lenders higher - HSBA and BARC +1.9%, LLOY +1%. Miners rallied on firm industrial metals (RIO +3.3%, GLEN +3%, AAL +2.4%) and BP added 2.2% after guiding to a stronger Q2 on oil trading and refining margins. The offset is geopolitics: Iran has announced closure of the Strait of Hormuz after renewed missile exchanges with the US, driving Brent up ~4% toward $80. Shell also flagged Qatari production disruption. This morning's futures read is flat-to-slightly-firmer but the tone is cautious - energy and defensives supported, oil-price inflation risk hanging over rate-sensitive names.
