Data: Close 17 Apr | US30: 49,584 | Change: +1,005 (+2.07%) | Range: 48,700 - 49,650 | VIX: 17.28

MARKET OVERVIEW

The Dow ripped +1,005 points (+2.07%) to close at 49,584, the largest single-session advance in weeks. The rally was triggered by Iran's declaration that the Strait of Hormuz is "completely open" for commercial shipping after the 10-day Israel-Lebanon ceasefire took hold. Brent and WTI crude slumped hard, risk-on flows flooded equities and the S&P 500 printed fresh all-time highs above 7,100 while the Nasdaq notched its longest win streak since 2009. Dow internals were lopsidedly positive: 28 of 30 components green. Leadership rotated aggressively into domestic cyclicals and high-beta tech — SHW +4.3%, VZ +3.86%, HD +3.66%, CSCO +3.25%, MMM +3.23%, IBM +2.94%. The only two decliners were energy name CVX -2.62% (crude collapse) and BA -2.34%. VIX compressed to 17.28, down from mid-April teens-plus readings as the geopolitical fear premium unwound.

Bias: Bullish — trend re-asserted, breadth overwhelming, VIX deflating, geopolitical overhang lifting.

TREND & INDICATORS

EMA Stack: Price > EMA20 > EMA50 > EMA200 on daily. EMA20 ~48,350, EMA50 ~46,078, EMA200 ~47,495. Note: following the March oil-crisis breakdown below the 200-day, the index has now decisively reclaimed both the 50-day and 200-day — classic V-recovery geometry. EMA50/EMA200 are still crossed bearishly (lagging), but a bullish re-cross is mathematically approaching within 2-3 weeks if the tape holds.

Structure: Higher highs / higher lows sequence re-established. Today's impulsive wide-range up-bar closes at session highs — textbook trend continuation candle. The 48,720 swing pivot (watched in yesterday's note) was demolished on a gap-and-go.

RSI (14): ~72 — just pushing into overbought. No bearish divergence yet; fresh price high matched by fresh RSI high. Overbought in a trending tape is a continuation signal, not a sell signal — but tightens risk on fresh longs.

MACD: Line > Signal > Zero. Histogram expanded sharply on today's move. Bullish, no decelerating footprint.

Volume: Well above 20-day average — accumulation-grade participation. Breadth thrust validates the price move.

Phase: Trending / impulsive breakout — no consolidation signal yet.

KEY LEVELS

Resistance
R1 49,650 — today's session high / immediate intraday pivot
R2 49,922 — classic pivot R1 (next session)
R3 50,000 — major psychological round, first test anticipated
R4 50,261 — pivot R2 / measured move extension

Support
S1 48,972 — pivot S1 / prior breakout shelf
S2 48,720 — broken resistance, now support (polarity flip)
S3 48,361 — pivot S2 / EMA20 zone
S4 47,495 — EMA200, structural line in the sand

Classic Pivot (next session): P 49,311 | R1 49,922 | R2 50,261 | S1 48,972 | S2 48,361

DOW COMPONENT HIGHLIGHTS

STRONG
SHW +4.30% — materials breakout, clean bull stack, RSI refreshing highs.
VZ +3.86% — yield + defensive duality; reclaimed EMA50, relative strength turning positive.
HD +3.66% — consumer cyclical leadership, housing/retail read-through positive.
CSCO +3.25% — networking/AI infrastructure bid, new 52-week high territory.
MMM +3.23% — industrial rotation leader, turnaround thesis picking up traction.
IBM +2.94% — AI + consulting bid, above all key EMAs, cup-and-handle targets extended.

WEAK
CVX -2.62% — direct collateral damage from crude -7% on Hormuz reopening; watch 200-day EMA as trend filter.
BA -2.34% — lagging the tape, stuck below April highs, needs clean break of range top.
MRK -1.86% — healthcare rotation out; momentum rolling.
JNJ -1.70% — defensive fade on risk-on day; structural but not breakdown-grade.
AAPL -0.89% — muted participation given megacap leadership elsewhere; watch 200-day EMA.

Target 2: 50,000 (psychological round)

EVENTS

Week ahead (21-24 April):
- Tue 21 Apr — US Retail Sales (March, rescheduled from 16 Apr)
- Wed 22 Apr — FOMC Minutes from the 17-18 March meeting (Fed held Funds Rate at 3.50-3.75%)
- Thu 23 Apr — Weekly Jobless Claims; Flash PMIs
- Fri 24 Apr — March CPI release (delayed from mid-month); expectations to centre on whether oil-spike pass-through to services/shelter has stuck
- Earnings: peak week for Dow mega-caps — watch IBM, MSFT, KO, VZ, HON, MCD reports as potential drivers

Next FOMC: 28-29 April meeting now in scope. Current market pricing leans toward a hold; CPI print on 24 April will be the decisive input.

Risks: Any re-escalation in the Middle East, Hormuz re-closure headlines, or a hot CPI surprise could rapidly reverse today's risk-on positioning.

Thursday 16 April 2026
Data: Close 16 Apr | US30: 48,579 | Change: +90 (+0.18%) | Range: 48,460 - 48,720 | VIX: 18.17

MARKET OVERVIEW

The Dow ground out a modest gain to 48,579, adding ~90 points in a measured follow-through session after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq carved fresh record closes the prior day. Leadership rotated into defensives and cyclicals: Sherwin-Williams +2.48%, Verizon +1.84% and Chevron +1.58% topped the Dow while Boeing -1.99%, Apple -1.52% and Amazon -1.48% dragged. Sector flow skewed risk-on at the margins — energy, materials and real estate led; healthcare and consumer discretionary lagged. Broader tape was mixed with the S&P 500 +0.16% and Nasdaq -0.02% as megacap tech paused. Risk sentiment continues to draw support from the US-Iran de-escalation narrative and the Israel-Lebanon 10-day ceasefire. VIX eased to 18.17 — cooler than mid-April highs but still elevated versus the Q1 lows.

Bias: Bullish — trend intact, momentum cooling, index coiling beneath record-high resistance.

TREND & INDICATORS

EMA Stack: Bullish alignment — price > EMA20 (~48,280) > EMA50 (~47,920) > EMA200 (~46,150). 20/50 spread remains positive; no bearish cross threat on the daily.

Structure: Higher highs / higher lows sequence intact. Today's narrow-range inside-style bar leaves 48,720 as the next swing pivot to clear.

RSI (14): ~56 — neutral-bullish, no overbought condition, no bearish divergence on the daily close.

MACD: Signal line above zero, histogram flattening — momentum is decelerating but has not rolled. First warning would be a close below EMA20 at 48,280.

Volume: Subdued — no distribution footprint; bulls remain in control.

Phase: Trending / shallow consolidation beneath record-high resistance.

KEY LEVELS

Resistance
R1 48,713 — intraday pivot resistance / today's upper wick

Support
S1 48,453 — session low area / pivot support
S2 48,326 — prior breakout retest zone
S3 48,000 — psychological round + EMA20 confluence

VZ +1.84% — defensive yield bid, holding above 50-day EMA with improving relative strength.

MSFT — constructive under the surface as AI/cloud narrative supports megacap breadth.
CRM — fresh relative-strength leadership into Dow tech bucket.

WEAK
BA -1.99% — consolidating below recent highs; lacking catalyst, needs to hold 50-day EMA.
AAPL -1.52% — rotation out of tech after record Nasdaq prints; watch 200-day EMA as trend filter.
AMZN -1.48% — consumer discretionary softness; short-term momentum rolling.

Target 2: 49,000 (psychological)

Data: Close 15 Apr | US30: 48,489 | Change: -48 (-0.10%) | Range: 48,425 - 48,612 | VIX: 18.36

MARKET OVERVIEW

The Dow closed marginally lower at 48,489, giving back 48 points in a tight 187-point range after Tuesday's +319 rally. Bank earnings dominated the tape: Morgan Stanley surged over 5% on record revenue, Bank of America added 2.5% on a Q1 beat, and Goldman Sachs traded firm. Offsetting that, cyclicals and defensives leaked — Caterpillar (-1.97%), Cisco (-1.50%) and Coca-Cola (-1.23%) led the laggards. Tech megacaps were mixed but net-supportive with Microsoft +2.39% and Salesforce +2.81%. VIX sits at 18.36 — elevated versus the multi-year lows seen earlier in April but nowhere near stress levels. The tape reads as constructive consolidation following the post-earnings relief rally.

Bias: Neutral-to-Bullish — trend intact, momentum cooling, awaiting Thursday Retail Sales + Philly Fed.

TREND & INDICATORS

EMA Stack: Bullish alignment — price > EMA20 (~48,250) > EMA50 (~47,900) > EMA200 (~46,100). The 20/50 spread remains positive; no bearish crossover threat on the daily.

Structure: Sequence of higher highs / higher lows intact. Today's inside-day style bar leaves the 48,612 swing high as the immediate pivot.

RSI (14): ~58 — neutral-bullish, no overbought condition, no bearish divergence on the daily close.

MACD: Signal line above zero, histogram flattening — momentum is cooling but has not yet rolled. A close below EMA20 would be the first warning.

Volume: Around average — no distribution footprint; bulls still in control.

Phase: Trending / shallow consolidation beneath resistance.

Tuesday, 14 April 2026
Data: Close 14 Apr 2026 | US30: 48,536 | Change: +318 (+0.66%) | Range: 48,190 – 48,612 | VIX: 18.15 (-5.07%)

MARKET OVERVIEW

The Dow Jones Industrial Average extended its recovery rally on Tuesday, gaining 318 points to close near session highs at 48,536. The advance came despite a hotter-than-expected wholesale inflation print (PPI), as markets chose to focus on growing optimism around US-Iran ceasefire negotiations and easing oil prices. The Nasdaq surged 1.96% for a tenth consecutive winning session, while the S&P 500 added 1.18% to 6,967. Tech and growth names led the charge, with Salesforce and Microsoft posting strong gains. The Dow has now turned positive for 2026 after recovering the losses from the Iran conflict-driven selloff.

Bias: Bullish — Strong breadth, geopolitical tailwinds, and reclaiming key moving averages. Hot PPI data ignored for now but could resurface.

TREND & INDICATORS

EMA Stack: Price (48,536) is now trading above the 200-day MA (47,495) and well above the 50-day MA (46,078). The 20-day EMA (~47,800) has been reclaimed and is turning higher. The EMA stack is not yet fully bullish (20 > 50 > 200) as the 20-day remains below the 50-day, but the price recovery above the 200-day is a significant reclaim after the war-driven breakdown.

Market Structure: The Dow has printed a clear series of higher lows since the April 8 ceasefire rally (+1,300 pts that day). The current structure shows recovery from the 43,793 war low back toward the pre-conflict highs near 48,400-49,000. A close above 48,434 (prior resistance) is a breakout signal.

RSI (14): Estimated at ~58, rising from deeply oversold territory (sub-30) in late March. Not yet overbought — room to run toward 65-70 before caution is warranted. No bearish divergence present.

MACD: The MACD line has crossed above the signal line on the daily chart, with the histogram turning positive and expanding. This is a fresh bullish crossover, confirming the momentum shift to the upside. The MACD value remains negative overall (-183 area) reflecting the depth of the prior selloff, but the crossover is the key signal.

Volume: Volume has been above average on recent up days, confirming institutional participation in the recovery. The rally has breadth — not just a handful of mega-caps dragging the index higher.

KEY LEVELS

Support:
S1: 48,218 — Yesterday's close and the breakout level. First pullback target. Significance: High
S2: 47,495 — 200-day moving average. Critical support — a close below here would invalidate the recovery thesis. Significance: Very High
S3: 46,078 — 50-day moving average and the consolidation zone from early April. Significance: High

Resistance:
R1: 48,800 — Pre-conflict swing high zone. Significance: High
R2: 49,500 — Round number and the February 2026 high area. Significance: Very High
R3: 50,087 — Major psychological level and next technical resistance from Investing.com. Significance: Very High

Pivot Points (Classic):
S2: 47,768 | S1: 48,152 | Pivot: 48,401 | R1: 48,785 | R2: 49,034

Psychological Levels: 48,000 (held as support), 48,500 (testing), 49,000 (next target), 50,000 (major round number).

DOW COMPONENT HIGHLIGHTS

STRONG
Salesforce (CRM) +4.76% — Top performer in the Dow. Analysts issued optimistic projections for upcoming AI integration revenue. The stock has surged on the broader tech rally and is showing strong relative strength.
Microsoft (MSFT) +3.63% — Riding the Nasdaq's 10-day winning streak. Cloud and AI momentum continues to attract institutional flows. Trading above all key EMAs.
American Express (AXP) +3.22% — Consumer spending resilience supporting financials. Benefiting from strong travel and entertainment data.

WEAK
Goldman Sachs (GS) -1.83% — Sold off despite reporting strong Q1 earnings (EPS beat, 19% net earnings growth, robust trading/M&A). Market disappointed by forward guidance on investment banking margins. Classic "sell the news" reaction.
Walmart (WMT) -1.73% — Defensive retail underperforming as risk-on rotation favours growth over value. Rotation out of consumer staples into tech.
Verizon (VZ) -1.46% — Defensive telecoms lagging in a risk-on session. High-yield names losing appeal as growth outperforms.

Earnings Watch: JPMorgan (JPM) reported Q1 today — beat on EPS ($5.94 vs $5.45 expected) and revenue ($50.54B vs $49.17B), but stock fell ~2% after lowering net interest income guidance. Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) also reporting today. Travelers (TRV) reports Thursday.

SWING TRADE SETUPS

Setup 1: US30 Long — Continuation Breakout
The Dow has broken above the 200-day MA and prior R1 at 48,434. A pullback to test this level as support offers a high-probability long entry.
Entry: 48,250 (pullback to broken resistance / yesterday's close)
Stop Loss: 47,900 (below the 200-day MA and recent consolidation)
Target 1: 48,800 (pre-conflict swing high)
Target 2: 49,500 (February 2026 high)
R:R: 1:1.57 (T1) / 1:3.57 (T2)
Kill Condition: Invalidate if price closes below 47,495 (200-day MA) on a daily basis, or if Iran ceasefire collapses and oil spikes above $80.

Setup 2: Salesforce (CRM) Long — Relative Strength Leader
CRM is showing the strongest relative strength among Dow components. If the broader index continues higher, CRM is likely to lead.
Entry: On a pullback to $172 (today's breakout area)
Stop Loss: $165 (below the 20-day EMA)
Target: $185 (measured move from breakout)
R:R: 1:1.86
Kill Condition: Broader Nasdaq rolling over, or CRM losing relative strength vs the index.

INTRADAY SETUPS (Wednesday 15 April)

Setup 1: US30 Long — Opening Range Breakout
If the Dow opens above 48,500 and holds the first 15-minute low, look for continuation toward R1.
Entry: Break of the first 15-minute high (above ~48,550)
Stop Loss: Below the first 15-minute low (~48,430)
Target: 48,800 (pre-conflict swing high)
R:R: ~1:2
Note: Beige Book release at 4:15pm ET could cause late-session volatility.

Setup 2: US30 Dip Buy — 200-day MA Test
If the market gaps down on PPI follow-through or geopolitical headlines, the 200-day MA at 47,495 is a high-probability support zone for a bounce trade.
Entry: 47,500-47,550 with bullish 5-min candle confirmation
Stop Loss: 47,350 (below the MA by 150 pts)
Target: 48,000 (round number reclaim)
R:R: ~1:3
Kill Condition: Price slices through 47,350 with volume — do not fight the trend.

Monday, 13 April 2026
Data: Close 13 Apr 2026 | US30: 47,673.89 | Change: -242.68 (-0.51%) | Range: 47,612 – 47,948 | VIX: ~21.3

MARKET OVERVIEW

The Dow finished lower on Monday as a heavy drag from Goldman Sachs (-2.4% to ~$884) offset strength in software and cloud names. Sector rotation was the theme of the session: enterprise software rallied on a constructive Goldman Sachs research note while banks and defensives were sold. Salesforce (+3.3%), Microsoft (+3.6%) and American Express (+3.3%) led the gainers board, but with GS the highest-priced component in a price-weighted index, its slide did most of the damage. The broader tape was mixed — Nasdaq and Russell 2000 finished higher, underscoring that the Dow's pullback was idiosyncratic rather than a broad risk-off move. Traders are now squared up ahead of Tuesday's March PPI print.

Bias: Neutral – short-term consolidation inside a broader up-channel; price is still above the 50-day but momentum is flattening.

TREND & INDICATORS

Close slipped under the 20-EMA for the first time in several sessions but remains comfortably above 50 and 200 — the longer-term alignment (20 > 50 > 200) is still bullish, but the short-term break of the 20 flags potential distribution.

RSI (14): ~54 — neutral. Down from the low-60s last week. No bullish or bearish divergence visible at this reading; momentum has cooled rather than flipped.

MACD: Line curling below signal on the daily with the histogram turning red for the first time in ~8 sessions. Early bearish cross warning but still very shallow.

Volume: Slightly above the 20-day average on the down-day — mild distribution signal, not panic selling.

Market structure: Higher highs / higher lows intact on the daily since the late-March swing low. Today's candle prints a lower high versus Friday — watch for confirmation of a short-term lower low below 47,500.

• 46,800 – rising trendline from Feb low, must-hold for the bull case (★★★ major)

Classic pivot points (for Tuesday):
S2 47,376 | S1 47,525 | Pivot 47,761 | R1 47,910 | R2 48,146

DOW COMPONENT HIGHLIGHTS

STRONG
• CRM (Salesforce) +3.3% – breakout on Goldman upgrade, clear of prior consolidation, leading the software cohort.
• MSFT (Microsoft) +3.6% – reclaimed its 20-EMA with conviction; AI capex narrative back in play.
• AXP (American Express) +3.3% – outperforming the financials block despite GS weakness, bullish relative strength.
• NKE, DIS – firm bids into the close, showing buyers stepping in on consumer names.

WEAK
• GS (Goldman Sachs) -2.4% – sold into a beat on soft FICC trading; largest index drag given ~$884 share price in a price-weighted index.
• SHW (Sherwin-Williams) -2.3% – breaking its 50-EMA, housing-adjacent softness.
• KO (Coca-Cola) -1.8% – defensive rotation out as risk-on resumes elsewhere.
• WMT (Walmart) -1.7% – below 20-EMA, consolidating after recent highs.

SWING TRADE SETUPS

Setup 1 – Long on 50-EMA pullback (preferred bias)
• Entry: 47,130 – 47,180 on a tag of the 50-EMA confluence
• Stop: 46,750 (below trendline support)
• Target 1: 47,900 | Target 2: 48,185
• R:R at T1 ≈ 1:1.8 | at T2 ≈ 1:2.7
• Kill: daily close below 46,800 invalidates the higher-low structure.

Setup 2 – Short breakdown (counter-trend, smaller size)
• Entry: sell a daily close < 47,450 with confirmation next session
• Stop: 47,820 (above today's mid-range)
• Target 1: 47,120 | Target 2: 46,800
• R:R at T1 ≈ 1:0.9 | at T2 ≈ 1:1.8
• Kill: bullish engulfing / reclaim of 47,680 intraday.

INTRADAY SETUPS

Setup A – Pivot long (Tuesday)
• Trigger: price holds above daily pivot 47,761 after PPI release
• Entry: 47,780 on retest
• Stop: 47,680 (below S1 buffer)
• Target: R1 47,910, stretch R2 48,146 | R:R ≈ 1:1.3 to 1:3.5

Setup B – S1 fade short

• Entry: 47,900
• Stop: 47,980
• Target 1: Pivot 47,761 | Target 2: S1 47,525 | R:R up to 1:4.7
• Kill: 5m close above 47,970.

EVENTS

• Tue 14 Apr, 13:30 UK (08:30 ET): US PPI (March) – headline and core. After a hot March CPI, this is the key event risk; hot print = bond yields higher, index pressured; soft print = relief rally into software/growth.
• Tue 14 Apr, US session: multiple Fed speakers scheduled — any hawkish tilt on rate-cut timing will move the tape.
• Wed 15 Apr: earnings from major financials continue; watch regional banks for contagion from GS's trading miss.
• Thu 16 Apr, 13:30 UK: US retail sales (March) and weekly jobless claims.
• Geopolitical: energy complex still sensitive to Middle East headlines — any flare-up in oil transit news is a VIX-positive, equities-negative shock.

Data: Close 10 Apr | US30: 47,917 | Change: -269 (-0.56%) | Range: 47,864–48,235

MARKET OVERVIEW

The Dow Jones Industrial Average pulled back on Friday, shedding 269 points to close at 47,917 after opening strongly at 48,199. The session saw early buying dry up as the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index plunged to a historic low of 47.6 — well below the 52 expected — reigniting fears over the health of the US consumer. Iran ceasefire uncertainty continued to weigh on risk appetite, with reports of violations dampening the relief rally that had driven markets higher earlier in the week. Despite Friday's decline, the Dow still posted a strong weekly gain of over 3%, its best week since November, supported by the midweek ceasefire-fuelled rally.

Enterprise software stocks dragged the index lower with Salesforce tumbling 4.1% on AI competition fears and IBM sliding 2.1% after a Stifel price target cut. Energy and industrials outperformed, with Chevron gaining 1.8% as oil prices firmed ahead of US-Iran talks.

Bias: Short-term Bearish (within a Medium-term Bullish recovery)

TREND & INDICATORS

EMA Stack:
• EMA 20: ~47,200 — price above ✓
• EMA 50: 46,078 — price above ✓
• EMA 200: 47,495 — price above ✓
All three EMAs are stacked bullishly (price > EMA20 > EMA200 > EMA50), confirming the recovery trend from March lows. However, the EMA 50 remains below the EMA 200, which is a lingering bearish crossover from the Iran-conflict selloff — a full bullish realignment requires the 50 to cross back above the 200.

RSI (14): ~47 — neutral territory. RSI has recovered from oversold levels seen during the March/early April selloff (sub-30) but Friday's pullback halted the momentum. No divergence signals currently.

MACD: MACD line at approximately -183, still negative but narrowing toward the signal line. Histogram bars are shrinking, suggesting bearish momentum is fading. A bullish crossover could materialise next week if the recovery holds.

Volume: Below average on the decline, suggesting this was more of a profit-taking session than aggressive selling. The heavier volume was on the rally days earlier in the week.

KEY LEVELS

Resistance:
• 48,235 — Friday's high / prior session close (immediate resistance)
• 48,435 — key resistance from late March breakdown level
• 49,000 — psychological round number / pre-conflict swing high zone

Support:
• 47,495 — 200-day EMA (critical — a close below invalidates recovery)
• 47,035 — prior resistance turned support from early April
• 46,454 — recent swing low / April 7 intraday low

Pivot Points (Classic):
• S2: 47,634 | S1: 47,775 | Pivot: 48,005 | R1: 48,147 | R2: 48,377

Psychology: 48,000 is the key round-number pivot. Holding above it early next week would signal buyers remain in control. A failure to reclaim it turns the short-term picture cautious.

DOW COMPONENT HIGHLIGHTS

STRONG
• Amazon (AMZN) +1.84% — led the Dow higher on continued AWS/AI demand strength; trading above all key EMAs
• Chevron (CVX) +1.81% — oil firming on geopolitical premium; beneficiary of Iran uncertainty; above 20 & 50 EMA
• Caterpillar (CAT) +1.78% — infrastructure spending optimism; industrial bellwether showing relative strength
• Nvidia proxy plays — semiconductor names broadly firm, Lumentum (LITE) +5% on AI demand; supports tech rotation narrative

WEAK
• Salesforce (CRM) -4.07% — hit 52-week low; AI competition fears from Anthropic model release; stock down 32% in 12 months
• IBM (IBM) -2.09% — Stifel cut PT from $340 to $290; second consecutive down day; below 50 EMA
• Microsoft (MSFT) -1.62% — broader SaaS rotation continues; stock down ~30% from all-time highs; struggling below 200 EMA

SWING TRADE SETUPS

Setup 1: Long US30 — 200 EMA Bounce
• Bias: Bullish
• Entry: 47,500–47,550 (test of 200 EMA)
• Stop Loss: 47,200 (below 200 EMA with buffer)
• Target 1: 48,000 (pivot)
• Target 2: 48,435 (key resistance)
• R:R: 1:1.5 to T1, 1:2.8 to T2
• Kill Condition: Daily close below 47,200 — invalidates the EMA support thesis

Setup 2: Short US30 — Failed Reclaim of 48,000
• Bias: Bearish
• Entry: 47,980–48,020 (rejection at pivot/psychological level)
• Stop Loss: 48,280 (above Friday high)
• Target 1: 47,500 (200 EMA)
• Target 2: 47,035 (support)
• R:R: 1:1.6 to T1, 1:3.3 to T2
• Kill Condition: Sustained break above 48,280 with volume

INTRADAY SETUPS (Monday 14 April)

Setup A: Gap Fill Long
If US30 gaps down toward 47,750–47,800 (S1 pivot area) on Monday open, look for a reversal candle on M15 to go long targeting the 48,000 pivot. Stop below 47,630 (S2). R:R ~1:1.5.

Setup B: Momentum Short Below 47,860
If Monday opens weak and breaks below Friday's low (47,864), short with a target of 47,500 (200 EMA). Stop above 48,000. This plays the scenario where Friday's selling was just the start of a deeper pullback.

EVENTS

Key data next 48 hours:
• Mon 14 Apr: No major tier-1 US data — watch for Fed speaker commentary
• Tue 15 Apr: Empire State Manufacturing Index (8:30am ET) — regional manufacturing gauge
• Ongoing: US-Iran ceasefire negotiations — any breakdown sends oil higher and equities lower; any progress is bullish

Context: Michigan Consumer Sentiment collapsed to 47.6 today (historic low). Inflation expectations are rising. The next FOMC meeting is late April/early May. Markets are currently pricing ~2 rate cuts for 2026 but sticky inflation from energy prices could push that back. April CPI releases May 12.

Geopolitical: Iran ceasefire remains fragile. Iran reported violations while US pushed for compliance. Oil prices remain elevated at ~$72-73 WTI, adding an inflation premium. Any escalation could trigger a sharp move lower in equities.
