Costco (COST) Technical Analysis

See also: Fundamental research on Costco · Costco company tracker

Costco rallied 16% from its 25 September low of 883.10 to 1021.45 on 23 October, and Friday's 1.6% gain to 1012.28 put it right back under that high. Price is above all three EMAs and the 50 has just crossed above the 200. A close above 1021.45 would open the spring highs; the 980 area is the support to watch.

Daily Chart

Costco daily chart with 21/50/200 EMA, RSI and MACD

COST daily chart, 30 October 2026 close — 21/50/200 EMA, RSI(14) with its moving average, and MACD(12,26,9). The October rally lifted price back above the 200 EMA, and the 50 EMA has now crossed above it.

Trend and Structure

Costco spent the summer drifting lower from its 19 May high of 1096.50, down to 883.10 on 25 September. The rebound since has been strong and orderly: a high at 1021.45 on 23 October, a shallow dip to 980.32 on 28 October, and Friday's push back to 1021.31 intraday. The 21 EMA (978.18) is rising and the 50 EMA (958.31) has just moved above the 200 EMA (956.48), a sign the longer trend is turning up again.

Key Levels

The level that matters most is 1021–1022, the 23 October and 30 October highs. Below, last week's low at 980.32 and the 21 EMA at 978.18 are the first support.

Fibonacci levels are drawn from the 25 September low at 883.10 to the 23 October high at 1021.45.

Momentum and Volume

RSI(14) is at 66.50, strong but below overbought, having cooled from the mid-70s earlier in the month. MACD is at 19.18 against a signal line of 18.53, a histogram of +0.66, comfortably above zero. Friday's 3.5 million shares was about 1.6 times the 20-day average of 2.2 million, the heaviest day since the 25 September low.

Bull Case

Price closes above 1021.45, clearing the double high. That would open the February and April highs at 1028.44 and 1035.82, with the May high at 1096.50 the bigger target.

Bear Case

The double high holds and price closes below last week's 980.32 low, under the 21 EMA. That would point to the 38.2% level at 968.60 and the 50 and 200 EMAs near 956–958.
