I have given this some thought lately too,
A lot of indexes have made new highs, but not the FTSE, ok,
so maybe some of this can be currency related but not all and
probably not for long.

Will a higher gold price (if we see that) help FTSE and aim companies go to new highs?

Will we see a new high for the FTSE soon, I hope so.

libero - very good points...

1. ben and his stimulus
2. abenomics
3. Mario - do whatever it takes
4. incoming BOE gov - he likes a bit of stimulus ?

markets irrational at best. where not even at euphoria stage yet...

Commodities have bull runs in bear markets

abv all - charts says it all.

right now i make potentially ~30/40% upside once a decent correction takes place to ~60% down side - so plenty of pips to be had.... that what its all abt... ;) imo we will see both upside and downside levels with in the next 2 years or so...

Yearly Dow.... u take ya pick and make that choice or sit out and do nothing and wait for the perfect entry.

Consider the DOW, but also the re-positioning of the FTSE securities...

This is rally has been without participation of the some of the heavyweights - i.e., the Miners - The FTSE would have punched through 8000 if BHP, RIO, XTA/GLEN, KAZ et al were involved.

Not quite scratching my head, but the FTSE is trading near all-time highs (without any inflation adjustments of course, i.e. let's join the herd and continue to kid ourselves that we've recovered for real), and yet, LLOY is way off, RBS is a mess, BP isn't at its peak.

That said, Schroders are doing great, Shell too, and then you've got VOD on a multi-year high, HSBC is trying to get there, STAN too. I think the FTSE has been lifted by the uber-hitters (might as well through in GlaxoSmithKline, and BATS too).

The term stealth rally has been used before, but it really is apt here.

Dare you open a long for any decent duration now?

What will cause me to scratch my head though, is if / when we have a correction, will the miners get crushed too even though they've not been involved in the rally?

;)
