CFD position size calculator
Type in your balance, how much you're willing to lose and where your stop is. It works out the size, the money at risk, what the spread costs and the margin needed. Everything is worked out in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

How it works
- Money at risk = balance × risk %. Size = money at risk ÷ (stop × value of one point per lot).
- Size is rounded down to your broker's lot step, so you never risk more than you set.
- Spread is paid when you open, so a stopped-out trade loses the risk amount plus the spread.
- Exchange rate: if the market is priced in a different currency from your account, type the rate (for a GBP account on US30: 1 GBP = how many USD).
- Margin = size × contract × price ÷ leverage. UK retail limits are usually 30:1 on major FX and 20:1 on gold and major indices. Overnight funding isn't included.
Contract sizes vary between brokers. Always check yours. For information only, not financial advice. CFDs are complex and many retail accounts lose money trading them.
