An excellent post Jackozy and the example I can so identify with, GKP, I have been in since 11p days, long ago I took my capital out, so the rest are free shares, but if I took my own advice following my 450p exhaustion signal, I would have double the free shares today.
Oh well, live and learn....as long as you learn it is a meaningful experience.

I'm with remo.
I started out as fundamentals only but quickly learnt that they bear little relevance to the SP at any given time and that it's mostly technicals which govern price movement. News does come and cause spikes but, in my experience, rarely at a time when there hadn't been a previous signal to either buy or sell.
I do believe that fundamentals dictate the long term trend of a share but I find it far easier to trade shares I know little or nothing about.
A really great example is AIM's most popular (and the share I know most about): GKP. Look how many people failt to trade the important levels due to "fear of being out"/"T/O imminent" and consequently have had an awful time during the volatility. Imagine how many more "free" shares or extra cash they'd have had if they'd been able to separate their emotion/greed from their common sense/TA.
So, I would say that if you're looking to take a long term position as an investor then fundamentals are important but you should still use TA to time your entry. If you're just looking to trade short term then fundies don't matter one jot IMHO - there just needs to be sufficient volume to render TA relevant.

Evening All,
Can I just ask. When you are looking at the technicals are you also checking potential news / reporting etc or just trade based upon the Techs?
