Whilst I'm deep in home Retail, I do think most of the retailers are "fully valued" at the minute and am execting the sector to pullback Nov-Dec. So my view is short the sector but be ready to buy back ahead of the Jan trading updates....I reckon food and hard goods will be down, but think the market will under-estimate technology sales in these companies....ipads, iphones and all the other gadgets I don't have a clue about will likely sell ahead of expectations and with some like Comet etc no longer in business... it's the supermarkets and home retail that will pick up the slack and that should come thru with the trading udates....I'd expect the shorts to close ahead of trading updates, but until then many are trading on hefty pe values so any slip ups will be punished....me thinks it is that reason why they are being shorted...e.g they may go up another 5-10% but if they miss estimates and have a poor xmas trading period they will see a 30% markdown.
I'm bearish for a short term pullback, but bullish med/long term as sector consolidates and the top companies will be the last men standing and then when economic recovery starts they will show god growth potential, but for now some of that looks already factored into the prices.

That's what I thought, I thought that they were large enough in a single sector to be of general interest.
By the way the way I took your FTSE trade. Not been playing on the Indices much of late, but that one looked appealing.

I didn't mean to suggest that Shotry - I appreciated your link and thought I'd look to see if there were any chart reasons behind the Hedgie's decisions. Some of those positions are really very large so I kind of expected to see some obvious sell signals on the charts but they all look to be in no-man's-land to me.
Strange....we'll have to wait and see but shorting retailers near Christmas will probably be a good idea like it was last year (IIRC).

Wasn't making a judgement on Jakozy, just for info on what some of the larger players are wanting us to know or are really thinking about.

I've had a quick look at some of the charts on those and I can't see any good short opps. Am I missing something?
