Hi Rab,

I still do the inside bar trading but like you I only do it now and then. Its been ok for me, I think its more of a long-term system so you do need patience.

It sounds like your doing really well having done a 100 trades without losing money, if its working then thats great!

If you wanna try something different, I know that some people are doing the 1-hour system on the FTSE, if you are interested have a look at that one under trading systems forum. Again that one is for long-term also.

Hi Ronnie,

Are you (or anyone else ) still using this system? I have been using it on and off for the last 12 months, when I have time. It has been teaching me the discipline of recording my trades and placing automatic stops and limits. I have only made a small profit, but the important thing is that I now have over 100 trades behind me without losing money, and that was all my original goal was! Now that I can do that, I'm wondering whether I should keep using this system or look for something more sophisticated. So, does anyone out there use this as a sole strategy and can report any long-term success?

Hi Ronnie thank you for the link, and as you say it doesn't highlight the inside bar but
they are not hard to spot, tried it out and I am pretty pleased, and will carry on
testing for a bit. But below is a link to Eur Chf which had an inside bar or 2, I have used
a 13ema and 21ema, and noticed retest of support + consolidation of price which gave
clear entry and stop loss, some fibs and ewt for good measure and thats a decent trade,
with possibly more to come.

Ronnie

it does highlight, I got one from remo that is in Expert advisor format, so once your scanner find the stocks with IB you can open expert advisor and it will highlight for you( not sure if is working correctly, but it does highlight)

it gives you a list of companies or currencies that have inside bars but when you open the chart it is not highlighted, so not great..something that needs improving.

The link you need is:

Hi Ronnie,

Can you send me the link please, but I am confused, what does the scan do
if it doesn't highlight the inside bar?

doh.. Thanks FTSE80.

Totally forgot that there is one but its doesn't highlight it in the chart for you so you have to find it manually yourself anyway so I don't really use it.

I can send you the link if you want to download it.

Hi Broad-rock,

At the moment I am looking for the inside bars manually using MetaStock however, I will find out from our contact at MetaStock if its possible for them to create a scan for us.

Will let you know what they say.

Certain currencies are more volatile and on them I increased the stops and limits, so not all currencies have 50 pips as a stop.

Once you start the system you start getting a feel for the currencies and can adjust the limits and stops as long you keep the to the rule of 1/4 ratio.

It's doing ok, I am up overall on the system.

However, you do get a few losses and the profits you make do take some time.

That EUR/JPY trade took nearly a month to make profit, so you do need patience.

So not really a quick win system but more for the long-term. :)

EURGBP is forming a double inside bar today so it shouldn't have given a trade signal after yesterday's inside bar unless I understand it wrong.

I thought you trade in the direction of the breakout from the inside bar so if today's whole candle is inside yesterday's which was inside the day before's then there's not been a signal yet.

I am also correct in thinking that a move from a double or even triple inside bar is likelt to be stronger than a move from a single one?

Hi Amo,

That trade was an order to open for the inside bar on the 26/10/2012. It got activated last night, I am just following the system.

Apparently with this system you can make up to 75% of losses but its the 25% of profits that should make up for it so most of the time you can be wrong....

I'm no expert though just trying it out and sticking to the system and seeing how it goes.

Follow me at your peril  .....LOL

Hi Ronnie, Good luck with your trades.

I'm a little confused with this system as my understanding was the trigger needs to be a candlestick/bar that is completely within the range of the day before. I have had a look at the EUR/JPY chart and cant see this. (also noticed Jackozy has gone short).

Have I misunderstood the system?

Thanks

Hi Amo,

Don't blame you, I have moved my limit to near the resistance level as it may bounce from there.

Hi Ronnie, I've closed out my USD/JPY to take profits. A little premature based on the 200 pip rule but I couldn't resist. Looking to monitor the forex charts daily for a similar trade to emerge.

Hi Amo,

I've made a loss on a few but I've also made profit.

At the moment making money on USD/JPY and USD/CAD. :cheer:

I started getting a bit disheartened with the losses I made but I have realised that it takes time and that trading is about accepting your losses and not giving up! ;)

Good luck with your trading, let me know how you get on.

Hi ronnie, I tried this system with USD/JPY going long at 7950. So far so good so I'll be checking charts for future setups. How are your other trades fairing?

I've always left the trading to Remo as he's so good at it ;) but I can't let you guys have all the fun!

I've decided to take the plunge and try out the inside bar trading system. I've placed 4 trades, only betting small money 50p a point.

The first trade has been activated and was on AUS/USD. Bought at 10375 (5 pips from inside bar high) stop loss 50 points and limit 200 points.

These are my other trades, obviously I'm just a beginner so do your own research:

GBP/JPY - 12966.0
USD/JPY - 8071.0
USD/CAD - 9982.0

For some of them, due to where the inside bar entry level is, which is bang on at resistance I placed my trade above the resistance.
