An old favourite looking very strong to exceed 1200

Closer up you can see this hitting the 50% fib of the (( a )) wave and the 61.8% fib of the (( w )), together with the support of the (( b )) wave and the 61.8% fib of wave A.
It has completed seven swings from (( w )) indicating the completion of a corrective cycle.
The RSI and StochRSI both appear to have bottomed.

Perhaps this share will trade "normally" now that the merger uncertainty is fading! That said, maybe its better to start trading GLEN instead because XTA will be no more soon :(

Anyway, here's the chart I promised earlier - wood from the trees springs to mind, but I do wonder if there's an arbitrage trade to be had whilst the 1:3.05 ratio remains at play (its closing fast!)

RedChilly,

Your trades of late have been excellent... Shorting XTA was a tough call - and just as well you had a stop loss in place because its up by over 5% as I type...

It seems to be that its trading in a narrow band of c.1100 to c.1200.

Will try to post a chart later...

Good luck!

I liked the rationale for entering the trade RC adn the we still have the lower lows and the lower highs so isn't the trade still viable as long we don't put in price over 165 (previous high on daily)?

I was watching for an entry , but have not yet entered it.

Shotry
heres a few charts to explain
1. my entry was based on a break below 1104 and the horizontal trendline as shown below
XTA1104.jpg

2. black trendline on your chart is quite far away on my chart
XTATL.jpg

3. you can wait till it goes up to your blue trendline & it will give you an excellent R:R
but to do that it has to bounce more than 61.8% fib from where it is now!

RC any value in the trendline I've drawn here on the daily? I'd feel happier if it broke that or to short from the higher blue line?

Would appreciate your views

Any thoughts on this ol' favourite?

I'll try to post my analysis after the close of play today, but looking at T/S' chart recently, there was decent support at around the 1100p mark.

What do you think folks?

Yep - missed my entry by 5p. By the way, the eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the support level I referred to should have read 894p rather than 984. I must have been thinking of the current SP when I made that typo!

It's looking like someone pulled the plug at 984 - down to 956 at a rate of knots!

This is approaching the short term downtrend reistance which stands at 991p today:

XTAdaily20_11_12.gif

dl.dropbox.com/u/20815047/XTAdaily20_11_12.gif

I've been patiently waiting for this to retrace to the 984p support at the 61.8% Fib, uptrend support and natural support but if it closes above this downtrend I may need to re-think the strategy and go long.

It really doesn't look like the correction is properly complete to me though. Any other thoughts out there? I'm thinking possibly a short at 989/990 with a very tight stop...

I am looking to go long on the miners but I am waiting for a lower low to get triggered off.

We are still in the highs so lets see. Patience. I have been stung by the lack of it many times lol

This looks to have had an inside bar yesterday following a bearish engulfing candle:

XTAdaily09_11_12.gif

dl.dropbox.com/u/20815047/XTAdaily09_11_12.gif

I went short at 981 yesterday based on bearish markets and the engulfing and IIRC the way to trade an inside bar is to follow the move in whichever direction it breaks so hopefully this will play out.

The wave count is purely for my own purposes so best ignored perhaps.

I've been waiting ages to go long at 893 as there are 3 levels of support there, but it looks good for a short with stop above 1008 due to the bearish engulfing candle. May be worth waiting for an entry half way up today's candle though (remo's method for marubozus):

also careful with this as its in a take over situation. I tend to avoid these things as you can can hit by the unexpected.

One of my favorite shares.

Anyone looking to go long/short on XTA?

I personally want to trade mainly miners and banks next year and so have been looking to really get studying on XTA.

Anyone recently peeped into our ol gal XTA recently?

dl.dropbox.com/u/4385922/xta0311.png

It seems to have come up to trendline and 200 MA resistance. I like to think there is an ascending triangle being set up in the bigger timeframe and there will be one more opportunity knocking round before it breaks the trend line.

Any thoughts?
