Waverider2,
Did you look closely at the chart?
Did you realise it's a weekly and therefore the 140 is not likely to occur until the end of the year - earliest? In the short term it will be staging a small recovery. The charts cannot be denied....

Diver,

As much as I like to get into VOD at 140ish - i have my reservations about it going that low. The telco sector on the whole is seeing a bit of a bullish divergence and i think VOD can be pulled up with that.

dl.dropbox.com/u/4385922/TELCO%20sector.png

Vod could have seen the bottom IMHO.

Also, I have got BP, Meggitt, COB, BP, SSE, GSK all in my high alert radar. Especially VOD and GSK.

All the best

If you click the link and then 'full size' you'll find it's 1600px x 989px = 1.618 fib ratio :)
You'll possible need to use the side-bars to access all of the chart. It's not in candlestick format as i suffer with acute colour-blindness so find the bars easier to see.

The answer to the question is yes, but not quite now.

screencast.com/t/IiJ9DyhmsBW

Take a look at the chart.

VODAFONEGRP..png

We are due another swing up for a b of ((b)); then another down for c of ((b)) - this should go to 144 minimum and could follow wave W and retrace to 61.8%fib, in which case it will make 133. This is the area to be buying: between the 50 and 61.8% fibs. Then hold for the next cycle up towards a minimum 215.91, being equal legs with wave W; but this could well extend into 123.6fib at 244.

This is a definite buy. The trick is getting in at what you consider an acceptable point. For me the 50% back is fine. If it goes lower then just accept it in the knowledge you are on the right side of the trend and therefore you will make profits as soon as wave Y gets under way.

Hope this is of help and easily understood.

There are a couple of nasty looking gaps which I will be keeping my eye on, but failing that I will be watching the 172/173 mark (previous support) then the 180 mark if markets look strong at that point.

Well I am not letting you get away without telling us your exit strategy LTV. As Alexander Elder says, a true pro thinks as much about is exits as his entrances, would you agree Remo ...... ?

Boxhead1,

I did get a good buy point. Buy at support. Thanks Remo. B)

Can't see charts at the weekends, will have a look monday and post a chart.

Not much wisdom here. More :woohoo: Learing to buy at support   Is the hard part.

Need to listen to my Master more on targets and stops. ;)

Stops under previous low.

Targets, using 3 contract rule, still learning this.

Master Remo, (sorry no Yoda icon, closest colour ;) )

If you ever have 5 mins, if you could show a recent trade idea on a chart (national express or tullow you mentioned recently) where you buy, where stop placed, where you would take contract 1,2,3 profits.

I know we have spoken about this before, sorry to repeat yourself. Many threads discuss buy, stop but not much on targets, its discussed take at resistance, thats about it.

Think it could be a helpful learning item.

Thanks :)

Well I can think of someone who will be feeling pleased today (see Long-term view's post below) I reckon that he got in at 154.8 just before a 1-2-3 low. Am I right or am I right ?

I want to hear from LTV now as to his profit target ! Come on LTV share your wisdom !!

i personally dont use it on the hourly .Its more effective on the daily.
But i suppose you could use the hourly for an early entry but the downside to this is you will have a lot more false breakouts as its more common on the hourly time frame than it is on the daily.
Just my view and if it works for you great.

Looking at the hourly, am I right in thinking we will have a 123 low if we close above 158?

20sma are not major resistance .This would be used for short term trading purpose.
the 200sma is the one that has the biggest impact and then the 50sma.
It all depends on what your using the moving averages for as many people use 20sma. It is a good moving average as its based on one months worth of data.

How do you rate moving averages in terms of resistance Remo ? Am I right to identify the 20 day EMA as a point of resistance ? (this is the first chart I have been brave enough to post)

hi longterm_view
thats low enough when targets are involved. ;) 1 point out...dohhh....Its no suprise that it bounced from 154 thou as thats where the main support lies so it should have bounced on first contact.Which it did.
There some resistances ahead for vod so id only consider this if we get a 123 low first and not before.
This needs higher highs to even consider any longs.
The resistances lie in the form of gaps .look at chart

In my humble opinion, I think it would take something special to get this sucker off the floor that is represented by the support at 154.8. There may be a possible MACD crossover due to todays jump in almost all shares, but given how VOD has behaved lately, I don't have any confidence that it will get up off its back and start to run. If it did show signs of life there is the matter of the 22 day EMA to over come. I reckon that would be a major struggle. Don't mean to pee on your party and I wish you lots of luck in a very brave trade indeed.

Do bear in mind that I don't know a lot, so VOD is probably due to fly !! I will try and post my chart below. Hope it works

New Year, New Passion!! B)

Well i have bought into VOD around 154.8.

No chart sorry, dropbox not working.

There seems to be RSI divergence on the hourly chart.

Just a couple of New Year Questions for you Remo,

Is 154 close enough to the 153 head and shoulders target?

154 looks like strong support, i also have the 38.2% fib at 154.8 (Move from 94.9-191.7)

Where would you place the stop? Around 151? or is that to close and as broad-rock said "stop 148"

I would say 155 was close enough to the H&S target of 153.
But a visit to 153 would be a real opportunity to buy with
a nice tight stop.

Phased buys then.

cheers broad rock

I went back to the 1 hour chart and also went back through remo's notes below. The H&S target of 153 is very close. I think I am also seeing some bullish divergence on the hourly.
From my analysis, there seems to be some heavy buying just before the critical hourly resistances were broken.

just for some additional comfort - I went into the Vodafone section in III and found some recent broker price target and there seems to be close to your 195 target.

This my take on Vodafone, it certainly looks like decent Risk/Reward trade, buying at 160 with a stop below 148 and target of 205 if this wave count is right (probably not though). If the price drops 148 then this count is most likely to be wrong.

Thanks Waverider2 for high-lighting this one,
it is on my shopping list for next week..

Hi waverider

Only thing with vodaphone is its broken its main uptrendline and back tested this as well. For real strength to come this has to finish above 173. Thats not all thou. Theres a head and shoulders break on this and the target is 153. Theres a bigger head and shoulders forming as well.
This share has alarm bells all over it for the time being so be very careful.
for any rises ,this share will be limited to 173 . Its a real strong resistance level so that should be your target if you enter on a hammer.
