I think our bear market could go to 5250 or thereabouts this summer
before a corrective wave into the new year. The only issue I have is that both 1 and 5 look extended when normally only one impulse wave is. Having said that, the lower low at 5 looks reasonable.

Hi all

First post here so please forgive me if this does not post correct, if not I shall try again.

My view for a potential short opportunity on FTSE 100

Good luck

Really mixed view out there. S&P & FTSE made new lows but as you say finished strong. Still, looking at the daily picture there are clear lower highs and lower lows in place.

Currently short on the S&P but getting twitchy. Currently minded to wait until after the FOMC meeting before deciding on whether to close the short or not.

The DOW & Nasdaq are looking stronger but too much sideways action for me.

Cheers

5960, 5898 then 5768 supports. We should see the former over the next few days at minimum IMO

My down trend channel is now broken. Close also above 6430 resistance but shy of recent high of 6453. In apex of RSI ascending triangle. Needs to close above 6453 to consolidate move

FTSE100Index23.10.15daily.png

Breakout also clear on weekly with last weeks candle pinched between MA200 & MA20. I would like to see a close above MA20 next week to consolidate the move

FTSE100Index23.10.15weekly.png

My gut is still medium term bearish but the charts are saying otherwise

Approaching trendline resistance (again) on the daily. The fact that it didn't test last time weakens the outlook IMO. Might see a double top Mon/Tues before a retrace!? I think this (surprise) short term bull move is almost done.

Looks like the FTSE 100 has put in a 123 low along the the Dax just need to Dow and S & P 500 to follow suit ... I expect a pullback first but I guess if we don't shoot below that number 2 low on FTSE then it's backup we go IMO ...

Remo what's your current view on the markets ?

Can't attached any charts at the mo ...

Well, rather than a breakdown we had a strong breakout and potential double bottom.

Rise stalled at MA50 yesterday. ~6500 needed to break the downtrend which is still in play.

Resistance 6430 then 6500
Support 5899 then 5768

I am still on the bear side medium term as too many headwinds (China/Commodities/Syria/Fed). Let's see what earnings season brings in this highly unpredictable and volatile market.

Support now broken with close. Confirmed by RSI. Todays open below 61.8% Fib. Bear pennant becomes bear flag.

Lots of barber shop volatility within a clear trading range after the bear pennant broke but I would now expect it to chug on southwards towards my target of 5600. First resistance is recent low 5768.

FTSE100Index29.09.15.png

Spyder broke a moderate support line yesterday with 1824 first target with similar candle formations.

SPDRSP50028.09.15.png

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Tomorrow needs a close above trendlines on both indices IMO. Probability is that the the bear flags will finally play out.

Nice breakdown of the bear pennant and caught by trendline support. 61.8 fib in 5965 area should now provide resistance and push downwards.

Am still looking to 5600 and will review then. RSI support will give us some indication as to potential bottom.

Hi all,

IMO this will go to 5600 minimum in the short term, being the 200SMA on the monthly:

FTSE100IndexMonthly06.09.15.png

Before that trendline support in the 5910 area and horizontal at 5768:

FTSE100IndexDaily06.09.15.png

5600 should at lease take all the froth off the markets and allow a moderate move higher but it is clear that the 5 year bull cycle is over.

Interesting that the FTSE has broken it's trend line from 2009 on the 19th August, I've posted the monthly chart for the bigger picture.

One correction I have to this chart is that I don't now see the upside going past 6900 into late August/early September. September/October should see a retrace and proper test of rising support and likely breakdown.

This has become very volatile but support right ahead. Similar for Spyder so I am looking for a bounce off of 6475 area. I think the US rate committee sits this week, so that will likely be key. Best wait.

Man Alive!

Diver - hope you're well.

I think we'll look at 4675-6300 it won't breach that surely.

If there's a panic going on right now, then it is very orderly.

Might we possibly be looking at a 50% PB on the overall move up from 3460 - circa 5290?

Not wanting to panic, or even predict. Just putting it out there as a possible.

Nice breakdown on RSI. 61.8% fib meets nicely with blue trendline. Target 6474 if MA200 @ 6748 falls:

yep, ..good spot..
it is a 123 high but look where the 200EMA is as well. Bang on that breakout point.
So could give this support on a first attempt basis for short term. If that fails as well then this could really tumble.
A finish below the 200ema could amplify the move down so one to watch.
123 highs aint as good as 123 lows thou. Ive seen more false signals from 123 highs than 123 lows.
but a finish below 6810 is the warning sign.
