Agree with you and it certainly seems as if it is not working at the moment as GO is having to borrow more which is totally against his plan. Guess he won't be looking as smug as normal when he has to announce this at lunchtime!
I know my kids school is carrying a deficit(60K I believe, for the first time) and so far they have managed to keep all their teachers but they will have limits on what subjects they can offer for A levels and also have warned of a larger cut next year which may mean teachers made redundant. The more jobs cut the more unemployment etc to pay and the less money people have to spend so then other private businesses effected and they have to shed employees too... it's a vicious circle.

Wonder if GO should take back some of the £4.5 billion or however much it was he gave to the banks and put it to better use since the news report Monday said they had not increased lending by much and some banks had even decreased lending despite being given extra monies specifically for this purpose...

I tend to think along the lines of keynesiasnism, we should do the opposite of what this government is doing, e.g. get people back into work via government sponsored / driven activities, like in the great depression the US built the Hoover Dam.

did anyone catch the BBC series Masters of Money?

Part 1 - John Maynard Keynes

Part 2 - Friedrich Hayek

Part 3 - Karl Marx

Very worth a watch for anyone interested in money and how monetary systems work :)

A recent news article has suggested that the UK's austerity measures will last until 2018. What are your thoughts on these measures? Do you agree with what the government are doing?
