yep, Blockbuster......in investing terms, their "moat" had been breached many years ago, barrier to entry long gone with the advent of the internet....what movies, games, and music can't you stream from any given plethora of on-line sources??

It has been over 20 years since we stood with a crooked neck in a video store looking at the latest release, rushing home and settling down to a good nights entertainment for £3

Dinosaurs died because they were not smart enough to see what was happening all around them and could not adapt to their new environment...sadly the tale is re-run over and over on our high street as ancient business models fall, while all the time we grow ever attached and remote via out screens and 100 meg capable fiber optic cables.

Come March when landlord rents are demanded, we may well see a further spate of closures, yet more jobs lost less people contributing in terms of tax and more needing to be helped from the public purse, I know, I was made redundant in August, and I started my new job on Monday, times are hard and when the going gets tough, Dinosaurs die out.....

Agree with you AdeMcG.

Sad to see it's gone. It is also customers loss. I like to buy things in the shop such as electronic goods. I like to asking and talking to the staff who know how to use the goods.

However HMV's goods are easy to be sold by Amazon, so they really should change.

Another thing which I dislike is every one trade every thing. phomacy is in ASDA, and Boots just 10 yards from ASDA in our shopping mall.

I guess it was bound to happen but sad to see another well-know high street retailer biting the dust.
