Hi Both,

Good comments, thanks for taking the time to reply. I was just wanting to open the discussion as, much like Gold, if and when there is a rebound it could be one heck of a buying opportunity so good to share ideas - even some which might be offbeat. I agree with the thought about banks and funding not being so readily available.

Best
Stevo

What will be the bottom for Oil Stevo?? its hard to call, so we need some bullish technical's to confirm a bottom imho...
BP and shell are certainly the safest stocks imho.... Maybe they will not see the largest rise's in the sector, but they do pay a good divi, and won't give sleepless nights.... ;)

One thing to consider, which i see potentially as a issue soon, is this sell off has now moved into Banks getting dumped.
www.reuters.com/article/us-europe-banks-stocks-idUSKCN0VI1WL

Now as oil continues down, and indices continue to fall.
How long will under pressure banks be willing to provide lending to loss making Oil companies??
Tullow Oil, has already warned of possible problems ahead.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-35538968

Will the banks call in loans or refuse further borrowing??
If oil and the markets keep dropping, who knows??

Quick look at BP,(weekly chart)it's looks a good time to buy, as the stocks at the lowest level for a few years.
However even BP looks like it's now breaking down. If 299p fails it could fall to the 250p area, with these markets i would not rule out anything!

Stevo999,

I have just brought BP in my pension and for my kidiwinks. :woohoo:

You never catch the bottom, its close to support of 300.

With RDSB buyout of BG, i believe BP will be the next to get bought out, If they start consolidating, paying a 8.8% dividend is
an added bonus.

Hope this helps! :silly:

Hi All,

I have several ideas of stocks / funds to buy as and when we get a confirmation of the bottom in Oil, whether it be at $25 or $10 per barrel.

I view (or will do when it arrives) this low price as a golden long term buying opportunity - I think similar to Gold when it bottoms (if it hasn't already).

Would anyone like to share what stocks and ideas they think would work best to gain from the subsequent long term rise in Oil price, which I feel must be inevitable? BP and Shell is one simple possible route but maybe not the best to leverage oil - or maybe better with mid-cap size producers who have really suffered and support companies. USO is a fund I have in mind - and various other Oil and energy funds.

Any other thoughts?
