GENL is doing better and going up ..
A Turkish company building stake of around 10% in it.
Still holding.

Monkeyz,
I always use stop loss, learned it hard way.
I am not sure, why or how, but this time on this I totally forgot it.... only realised today.. after seeing all this fall. I was thinking I would been out hitting stop loss today.
Then only when I checked my account I realised that I havent put a stop loss...

Good luck ta

Head up Paitech, tomorrows another day.

Always have a plan, always have a stop. It's not pleasant but realise when you are on the wrong side of the market and get out.

I've actually found trading FX a lot easier than shares. There's no emotion to it or story to believe in or drilling results just around the corner. Genel & GKP are both shares I hold as part of my non trading portfolio. I can afford to wait but think it's going to be a long time if at all I see that money back again. Note to self, be less greedy!

All the best,
M

I feel these guys just sc*w PI always.
In heavy loss now.
May be curtains down for my trading.
Good luck to all.
They scr*d all on AFR.
Not sure what will happen to GKP & XEL.
Wish I never came to trading.

Not a pleasant day at all...but i actually went long today...i was looking for a good opp to go long for the longer term...
Hugely speculative atm, so not looking for anyone to follow tbh...
That's not a pleasant looking candle today, however the rsi has held support(so far anyway) and we have a nice bullish div on the rsi....which could point to some sort of recovery.
I think a partial fill of the gap, and a move back to to test the 10 and 20 day ema is possible, around the 100p area possibly....
So lets see... :pinch:

TF,

I bought around 20K £ worth GENEL between 93~106p. Still holding.

Bought GKP @ around 13p

I think XEL @ around 12p.

Lack of fund, wanted to buy TLW & AAL & GLEN.

Huge buys going through GENL and GKP as I type.

Nice RSI Bullish divergence on this a couple weeks ago, which i missed.....
No other clear buy signal here, atm....but it's holding well above the 20 day ema....and a test of the 50 day @ 148p should be possible here.

GENL would be the best of Pick.
IAE, XEL, ENQ, PMO, TLW are good in that order
TLW has around 4Billion of debts, but their report earlier this week is good, with good hedge.
IAE is good with hedge too.
ENQ is good but bit debt.. managable.
XEL is good if u are buying now to hold long term.

There is another one called Pantheon I think, may be good too.
Ofcourse BP is very good if we can getin sub 300p

Good luck

No Sarcasm on my part.. just curious to know how you manage to trade effectively whilst not in front of the screens, not that being in front of the screen guarantees any success - ive got the scars to prove it.

That's still good ratio if you making good trades followed by the odd wrong one.

I am to looking to go long on OIL stocks, just waiting for the bottom to hit, GENL and Tullow being the one of a few on my list. Would like to add some North Sea exposure ones but it seems nearly all laden with high debt and may fail, though PMO's recent RNS suggest they are not in a bad shape for the time being.

Anyway appreciate the response..

Chief66,

Not sure if that a genuine question or a srcasm.
I am not that lucky man on trading.
Normally, I manage to make few good trades, followed by one wrong trade.
I did buy Genel at around 232p, just near to xmas, forgot to put , I had to sell at lower price for a loss. Was working 12 hour shifts at xmas.
I normally put all my good n bad trades, I am famous for saying my losses openly.
So, no secret there. traded LLOY many times.. buying aound early 70p, selling as soon as it hits 72~74 rage..
I may still buy GENL long term, at around 111p, or near 100p.
Will add chart soon.
Have a good day

Careful Paitech, there will be a time to buy this, and its a brilliant company, not in any danger with debt etc.
This is not not a good time for longs positions imho....Main markets and still oil possibly look set for bigger falls.
I would say keep a stop....

Thanks Trendfriend - great weekly chart!

It's quite alarming what has happened to this stock - and, as you say, the picture of oil at the moment, isn't a pretty one - it makes for very definite case a 'sitting on the sidelines' for the time being I think.

Best,
Anne

Hi Anne...
Yeah surprising this has fallen so far down!
That target around 150/160p was from a couple of weeks ago.
As the chart is a weekly the trendline and target is falling weekly as well, for next week it's around 135p... :pinch:
Its has always bounced from that falling support trendline, you can see from the arrows on the chart...
The bounces look small, but are actually quite substantial, as it's a weekly chart...

I did trade that trendline at around 275p last time, but i'm not so sure this time around...
This time i may sidestep this if it hits that level, simply based on the fact oil and the main markets look so bearish atm....
I honestly think we have already seen the highs on the dow and s&p, and soon we will may have big falls... just my opinion, i could off course be wrong...

lets see if Genel gets to that level and hits the trendline for now...i will off course be onto this if we get a good sign of change of trend... ;)
ATB,
Regards,
Trendfriend :)

It would appear that you're quite right and we're on our way down to 150 - ish! Yuk!! To think I was trading this at the £8/9 mark not that long ago..... :O

Anyway - anyone got any more views on a likely top up point on this?

Cheers!

This is one of the stronger companies, and it still does not look very good....

Unless we get a weekly close above the 20 day sma @ around 300p, the down side looks likely here with target of 150/160p area at present(red line on the chart). Until a weekly close above the 20 day any rallies will be bear market rallies, and likely to get sold off imho.... :pinch:

We do have a div on the weekly rsi, however this is now too dangerous to try to catch the small rallies.
The problem is fundamental for all oil stocks, in that the biggest Oil producing nations want to see the price of crude go down!

Until we get a change in that situation, i think it's best to stay on the sidelines, and wait for first signs of a turnaround imho.
Regards,
Trendfriend.

Any idea on how low this can go, before support?

Seems like RSI has broken trendline support, and cross over at MACD.

No historical support from what i can see?

Quick look here.... still keep a eye out for this...as it's a stock i like to trade...
Was looking for a break of the 20 day as an entry after the break of a short term trendline....
It did get to that level, but was promptly sold into... and i don't like the look of that candle on Thursday...the volume was at the high's for the month.... i think it suggest some sellers are looking to get out on any kind of strength imho....

Would still get tempted into a scalp long on the close above the 20 day sma, if it happens with tight stops...

Regards,
Trendfriend.

Genl24-11-15.PNG

Been watching this as well. Looking for any buy signals
A small rise here, and it looks like we may be developing a buy signal imho.
Looks like a RSI Break, and a break of the very short term trend line. Lets see how this opens...
I would buy this if it can get above the 20 day sma @ 265p (be a but lower than 265p tomorrow). If it can break the 20 day it may well be heading for that 50 day sma @ around 295p. ;)

Needs to break 265p (20 day sma) to confirm this is worth entering...
As this is would be a trade against the bear trend, stops are a must, and should be moved to profit imho...
hint, hint Paitech ;) hope your keeping well btw... :)

Potential trade coming up here, (scalp only)
uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=chartscreenshotsh...0O0=&symbol=L%5EGENL

This is showing some strength recently and it managed to hold support at 250p.
You also have a divergence on the RSI atm..

If this can get above the trendline and 20 day sma at 270p... it could well be heading for the 50 day at 300p
Stops are a must as this would be a trade against the trend, stops would need to be moved to profit on a rise.

Chart from close yesterday...
315 moving ave's and gap above, was always going to be hard to break first time here...
this went upto about 314p, before retracing.. ;)
i think 270p is must hold(red line on chart), break below could means lows(or new low..)

you can see how some important level are coming together here... the trendline... the moving ave's and the gap....
i think time to go long on a longer term basis is when those levels get taken out imho... and i think they will all get taken out in one big push up ;)
No real trade here now for me anyway(missed out on that little push up), wait and see for now.. ;)

Reagrds,
Trendfriend.

i'm not gonna chase this now, 315/320p is the target(for now), i'm going to see what happens around there...

Good luck, hope this jumps for you..
Post a chart later...

Regards,
trendfriend. :)

Thanks Paitech...

You could well be correct, and yes it tested 268p today and failed.
So best to wait for 268p to break, and reassess.

i know very little about the latest news and fundamentals here tbh..

Have a nice weekend folks,

Trendfriend.

TF,

I was about to reply yday, when I saw ur entry, that I feel this may go down as long as it cant break 269p. Looks like this has fallen down of that again today.
It could well head to 205p, and I feel gutted... could have made around 4~5K £ profit selling at 370s and bought back in lower price.. but thats I need to b not greedy.
I hold sub 300p but... I think fundamentally too.. KRG is getting few good news..and there may be some news soon on GKP GENL. Anyone who can buy them lower is lucky... as long as price goes up.
Good luck n good weekend. ta G

Quick look here. this looks encouraging..hmm...
you have the break of the short term trendline. looks like higher lows. and the rsi breakout as well.

More aggresive traders would take this on now. (which was what i did but i bottled it lol..)

Cautious traders wait for 268p to be broken(bid and offer)

I closed this position just now... :(
while we did get a small bounce yesterday, did'nt get the quick push i was looking for....could still bounce from here, not sure so i closed out here...

Going to wait and see what it does..
Break below 250p and rsi support should take us to 200p imho...
Or it could well respect that rsi resistance break and bounce from here...

trendfriend.

I just went long here @264p... maybe it would have been wiser to wait for 268p to be cleared
My stop for now is at 248p.. its going to get moved on a rise... ;)
This is speculative so stops are a must imho...

quick look here... this has come back again :(
Still no news from that RSI...
must not get too bearish here imho... could well break out here...

Problem is the RSI is a delayed indicator, so will miss some of the rise. when it happens...
I prefer to be safe than sorry... :pinch:

good Question. tidy rise here today :woohoo: and a nice buy Andrew..
I don't know the answer to your Q tbh...but your stop should at least be moved to profit ;)
I do know that the RSi held yesterday... and now its basically got a support under it and a resistance overhead... ;)
If it breaks up tomorrow i intend to go long, breaks down i'm staying on the sidleines...
The other thing here this closed bang on support at 269p..i would only go long if it holds that support, otherwise would be entering at resistance

I'm also pretty sure(though not 100% certain) that 250p low today is not the bottom.. ;) ;)
To see a trend reversal usually means a big volume down day(today volume was pretty average) followed by buyers coming in later in the day... sending it back up.... which would mean exhaustion candle....it could off course make a low without that, a 1,2,3 low or example...
best case for upside for now 319 imho...
