Well, if the Pipeline opens and payment structure sorted (negotiations stepped up at the weekend) then we could be on the edge of a big re-rate. As with anything in this region of the world nothing is certain until its certain, but the share buyback (some calling it a stabilisation exercise to prevent hostile entities gaining shares on the cheap) is clearly having the desired effect of pushing the sp north.
If the pipeline re-opens then up we go.

Thanks TF,
I too have those 118(gap support) and 65p ...
If it goes there, hopefully I have to buy tons, and take my chances to average out...
Fingers crossed

gkp - daily long term.
uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=chartscreenshotsh...Y45kuG22xN4PUVH9g%3D

Another one which all of a sudden doesn't look great on the chart esp after todays gap and drop.
I haven't read what the news are but the chart does look like lower is a very good possibility imvho.

Although a short term bounce could happen first as the rsi is very badly overdone and close to the low 20's.

supports.
140p
117p
67p
This does need to hold above 140p imvho...otherwise we could well see those lower numbers... ;)

I’m back on the sidelines as the bears are selling all the rallies…
I suspect we are gonna get a massive drop soon…

Yes tennis is a very expensive hobby….lol… The worst part is the travelling and going to endless tournaments so as he can get the ranking points. My son is a regional player so goes to regional training center and this is a pain as have to do tennis nearly everyday and requires travelling to the nearest regional center which is around 1.5 hours away…so loads of driving..
Had to invest in a tesla as I do 30000 miles per year minimum…

A new Bull market has started?
Should I be buying?
A "Tennis parent"? Sounds expensive.

Bear markets normally wipe out most people so that s why most people are probably away from markets.
For me a new bull market has started already .
I’m too busy trading nowadays to have any time to post as it takes most of my time up and with being a tennis parent , I’m always on the go travelling the length of the country doing silly tournaments..lol.

GKP is paying good dividends but my previous losses here make me nervous of big holdings.
I am trading this one in my Spreadbets but closed on friday when my limit order of 245p was taken.
Any falls I will get back in.

GKP is now debt free. They have paid off the last of the bond holders this month (August).
So when Remo stated GKP were debt free on this thread, technically it was incorrect as Bonds are a form of debt. But as Remo always states DYOR (Do your own research).
I think a Debt Free GKP could now break out of the trading range but with a possible recession on the Horizon timing of entry points should be made with care.

I would love this forum to become active again as I think there is a lot of money to be made with a possible slump in the markets. Remo is very risk averse and we thank him.

Some more info, not this is related... .

ekurd.net/nadhim-zahawi-sprinting-top-uk-2022-07-11

On July 6, al-Hurra reported, based on an earlier report by AFP, that Baghdad had ruled that the contracts of four foreign oil companies operating in the Kurdistan region were void. The ruling on July 4, reportedly affected Western Zagros, DNO, HKN Energy, and Genel Energy. The court found the contracts in question to be in violation of the February 15 ruling by the Federal Supreme Court against oil operations in the Kurdistan region, according to an unnamed senior Iraqi oil official.

Earlier contracts pre-dating that of HKN are, however, also in violation. HKN arrived on the scene comparatively late in the day. For example, Prime Natural Resources with Turkish Petoil and Heritage with Oryx Addax. If DNO contracts were to be voided this would have a knock-on effect on voiding Gulf Keystone, Shamaran, Hunt Oil and MOL of Hungary, among others...

Hi guys
Sorry couldn't reply last two days bit busy with other things...
The reason for my previous question to TF is, I saw a weakness in momentum around 220-235 region and I was feeling this may go down than up...
So I was hesitant to buy.
Oil prices also went down due to recession fears ....
Then TF today's fall is due to 20p special dividends.....
So this clearly puts it below 200dma and long term trendline....
My view is it's 190s then lower ..
Typing from mobile, so will try to do more details later on....
Thanks G

Hi Guys...
Any idea why this has dropped so much today?

Was looking to buy...but as things stand a couple of significant technical events at the open today.

gkp - daily.
uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=chartscreenshotsh...UpnxqPPjIiWQ1BfFI%3D
gap below the 200 day ema line.

gkp - daily.
uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=chartscreenshotsh...skRkasuGm/Bj88ykj2c=
gap below the long term main support line.

Lets see if it finish's below the trendline today...but those support levels getting breached on the same day could well be a sign of a possible trend change after a prolonged bull run for the stock.

Lets see how it ends the day and the week and reassess this again.

As I typed earlier, I gave you no advice other than only you can confirm a strategy and act on it or not.

Perhaps your question was not phrased in the way that perhaps you thought it was, perceptions can alter the reply you expected. B)

What would be better may have been to outline your rationale for any entry or strategy to add and then the Chartsview community could review the rationale without any prejudice (e.g. emotion, previous entry or desire to average down)

For my strategy

Daily Timeframes:
First Support from the recent high, I had at 286p (which was the 20 D SMA -which it breached) so I kept my cash and watched.
The next level was 260p (the 50 D SMA) and then 251p (a 23.6% FIB retracement)
The price bounced and ultimately breached, so I kept my cash.

Weekly / Monthly Timeframes:
I changed the timeframe chart, to the weekly and monthly and seen that 242p was a 23.6% FIB retracement, so I marked that on my chart (only end of day) and watched daily.
This support held twice so at 240p I added to my original positions from way back in 2009 (11.25p) Although there was a better entry 235p which was 20 SMA on the Weekly, which the price spiked down and bounced back up to 252p
Will hold for DIVI’s and see where we go from here, although the Ichimoku cloud is looking bearish of late, but hey that was my strategy and I acted on it, could have picked up stock cheaper than the 240p but I work and can’t time entries that well, so I added as an average down exercise as with all Long term holders, the bond restructure and dilution heavily affected my original holding.

I can't trade as I don't have the skill or reflexes on a working day so I add when I see an opportunity which makes sense to me. :silly: ;)

Hi TF thanks for your analysis and comments. Yes, I hold from 2009, and I was on huge profits when it hit 400p+.But the chatter were of a takeover at 800 to 1200p, so I did hold and rest is a history..
I bought in heavily when they had an offer at 83p I think, but couldnt buy into my wifes account as short of cash and risk of putting too much funds in same company.

If I had bought 10k£ worth at 50p, I should be out when it hit 300p with breakeven. But then again, high risk of ISIS etc in kurdistan region etc... hold me back...

Only plus point is the huge amount of dividends I am collecting in my ISA...
So I may have to buy in slowly to average down in the hope of getting out... but not sure how risky play is that....
average is almost double of current price...
THanks for charts and comments
Happy trading...

Gulf Keystone, a leading independent operator and producer in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, is pleased to announce that the Board has approved the declaration of a special dividend of $50 million.

Jon Harris, Gulf Keystone's Chief Executive Officer, said:

"Following payment of $115 million of dividends year to date, we are delighted to declare today a special dividend of $50 million, consistent with our strategic commitment to balance investment in growth with shareholder distributions. The declaration brings total dividends for shareholder approval at the upcoming AGM to $75 million and increases total dividends declared in 2022 to $190 million. Assuming timely payment of invoices and strong oil prices, we expect continuing strong cash flow generation in 2022, providing flexibility to consider further shareholder distributions, optimisation of the capital structure and a potential increase in capital expenditure with progress on the FDP."

Gulf Keystone will be seeking shareholder approval at the Annual General Meeting ("AGM") on 24 June 2022 to pay total dividends of $75 million, comprising the previously declared $25 million annual ordinary dividend and the $50 million special dividend declared today.

The annual ordinary dividend of $25 million is expected to be paid on 15 July 2022, based on a record date of 1 July 2022. The special dividend of $50 million is expected to be paid on 29 July 2022, based on a record date of 15 July 2022.

Both dividends will be payable in pounds sterling and converted from dollars at the spot rate leading up to the relevant record dates. The Company will disclose the US dollar and pounds sterling rate per share for both dividends prior to their ex-dividend dates.

Paitech,

GKP went from 2009 to 200p+ then it got killed by the Bondholders and there was a 100 for 1.
So if you held from 2009 it would not be worth very much.
I presume you went to cash and then got back in after the crash.

My target would be around 300 as loads of resistance there.
My average price…..I’ve been in and out of this since 180, but since the divi is so good have decided to just hold now.
I have a large holding in this due to divi and its by far my biggest holding.
I don’t plan on selling this unless something major happens . this is the only share in my portfolio that’s done well.
fundamentals on GKP are great currently , it has no dept, and all they seem to do recently is give the money back to share holders…which I like..lol..The main risk being its in Iraq … that’s as much of fundamentals I know on this…..lol
I’m sure others on here will know a great deal about this..
As long as crude stays above 100$ its win win I suspect.

This is my biggest holding by far . Divi being paid out tomorrow so I suspect people will reinvest it back into company again as divi is crazy currently.
I think oil companies are the way forward for the time being as price of crude is above 100$ and likely to stay there for the for the time being

This is in a clear bull uptrend. Unless it breaks below the uptrend channel....there's no reason to doubt it imvho..
your chart shows a shorter term channel but we also have a longer term channel which shows a target of around 300p
The best area to buy is near the bottom of the channel...so anything sub 200p looks to be a good buying opportunity ;) ;)

Yes, remo, high yield player..
Imagine buying at lows of sub 100p, in last march, you are looking more than 20% return...
I hold thousands of this, and trade regularly , so happy to hold...
was in from 18p in 2009, and still holding... but with a higher average....
good to see you back...

All
Looking for your comments.

I did buy this at around 145 and sold at around 190p.
This was before it went ex div, so I thought it may come down by 17p, equivalent of the divi amount.
It didn't …

what are your thoughts, with oil looking extremely bullish , I think all oilies are good buy ?

i would say a little caution with this now in view of how the rsi has developed. The rsi is making lower highs and lower lows.... ;)
The price currently seems to be struggling to get above the 20 day ema line...so this could be a hint to more down imvho....

I think wait for 183p for a sign of renewed strength or keep tight stops...if entering around the 160's.
a break below that area and we could see 130's again imvho.... ;)

Yep that 250p target is still on and i think it will get hit imvho....as per the chart on 11 feb.
that doesn't mean it won't drop off a tad first ;)

That candle on Friday wasn't ideal....and the rsi has stalled again on a dec resistance line.... ;)
so unless it breaks out of that rsi line....maybe a drop towards the 20 day ema line....before up again?

lets see...

I may buy back in some....

225p target while above 131p.
This is bullish....the rsi held the support line and the 50 level... ;) always a good sign imvho..
Maybe an idea to wait for a close above 157p which is the Jan peak before entering.
Could drop back a tad to 140p area (trendline support) while no close above 157p.

gkp - daily close up.

From lows of 40s... to where its now...

Not sure when I will be able to average down and get out!!!

Bit grumpy today, with markets just flying high, as if it has to reach the mars :)

Too many missed opportunities!!!

Will it break 140?
