Hi

Well as usual I was late to the party but I have done well on my US funds especially Baillie Gifford American

Question:-- do you think this will continue or will it shift in 2021 to the UK / europe ?

I wonder if the FTSE is playing catch up, unlike US and many other indexes in never fully recovered from the covid drop probably due to uncertainty with brexit, markets hate uncertainty. Now that’s done and terms are known I wonder if it’s going to catch up lost ground.

Social media suggests there’s going to be mass (planned and co-ordinated) social unrest in the US around the inauguration, be interesting to see what impact it has on the US market ...supposed trillion dollar scheme coming out just before as well so could be interesting few days!

I was like you too Paitech! Thought the stocks will come down and kept waiting. Bought the FTSE at 5560 and traded a few times on Barclays and IAG, so maybe about 10% of my portfolio was invested. 90% in cash, which is a huge error, retrospectively. Missed all the fun of the rises. I am a bit wary that the DJI is overvalued at present. Would rather wait for a slight fall back. The FTSE is OK as its still low compared to the highs.

redchilly,

I know many ppl who invested in tesla ...and most are in huge profits..

I think 2020 was a good year for investments, but I think I mostly missed the boat....

When FTSE goes higher , I think it has reached the peak, but it keeps going higher.

experts like you should take few mins a week, to guide the packs like me :) ....

even now, when i want to invest, i feel i may be too late , whether its UK or US markets..

Good to see you back... hopefully you can add some charts and help us too.

I am surprised that no one here is talking about US stocks/Index Funds/ETFs

In last two years - I have shifted my focus to US markets. I now trade 80% in US markets and 20% in UK markets

TESLA has been great for me - have been invested in Tesla at 396 USD post split

Compare the indices Post-Covid. And its quite clear nasdaq 100 was the leader of the pack - Ftse was the one right at the back behind all the major indices!
